WITMER TRIO TO
PARTICIPATE IN GOSPEL
CRUSADE
On Saturday, March 17 at
7:30 p.m., the Witmer Trio,
Manheim will be participat-
ing in the Evangelistic Cru-
sade now in progress at the
Christian and Missionary
Alliance Church, 153 East
High Street, Elizabethtown,
PA.
The Witmer trio had its
beginning twenty years ago
as three sisters ‘‘played
church” on the stairsteps at
home. Through the years,
they have participated in
various vocal groups, but
have always maintained the
best group-singing relation-
ship as a trio. Mrs. Jean
Stauffer, Mrs. Doris Fahne-
stock, and Barbara Witmer
are the daughters of Rev.
and Mrs. Paul Witmer,
Manheim, PA. They are
accompanied by J. Richard
Stauffer on his twelve-string
guitar. The group have
recently added another
member, Mr. Don Werner,
who, with his bass guitar,
brings the experience of
several years of professional
playing and his enthusiastic
REFORMED CHURCH
WILL TOLL THE YEARS
Preparation to the ob-
servance of Easter, May-
town Reformed Church will
hold its Good Friday Service
on April 16th at 7:30 p.m.
Mrs. Donald C. Drager
will establish the mood for
arriving worshipers with
appropriate organ selections
and several members of the
congregation will assist the
minister, the Reverend Paul
N. Marsteller, in an
abreviated form of The
Seven Last Words. Follow-
ing the concluding prayers,
worshipers will kneel in
prayer while the church
tolling bell is rung 33 times,
one for each year of Christ’s
life on earth, by Edgar W.
Mayers.
Easter will be observed
with three services: Easter
Dawn Service at 6 a.m., in
the church cemetary (in-
doors in case of inclement
weather) followed by a light
snack in the church meeting
room; church school at 9:30
a.m., with special music by
the children’s choir directed
by Mrs. Leon R. Good; and
the morning worship service
with the Sacrament of the
Holy Communion at 10:45
a.m. Robert L. Hayden will
be soloist during the wor-
ship hour.
testimony of new life in
Christ.
The Witmer Trio recently
made their first Gospel
recording, soon to be
released. They enjoy to sing
and play but not merely for
entertainment. Their prayer
at every program is ‘‘that
Jesus Christ be uplifted and
that every listener would
truly worship our holy
God.”
Prior to the Saturday cru-
sade service, the Witmer
Trio and instrumentalists
will accompany the local
““Joy of Living’’ Choir in the
singing of Scripture verse
hymns leading the audience
in active participation in
joyful worship. Evangelist
Duane Morscheck will
preach the Crusade mes-
sage.
Community friends and
neighbors are cordially in-
vited to hear this spirit-
filled vocal and instrumental
group as they participate in
the Crusade now in progress
nightly at the Alliance
Church.
