Women of St. Mary’s

The Women’s Club of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church,
Marietta, held its regular
monthly meeting on Thurs-
day, March 11.
Final arrangements were
made for the family covered
dish social to be held at
6 p.m., Sunday, March 21,
in the Church Hall. The
theme for this gala affair
will be bicentennial and
guests are invited to wear
costumes of the period if
they so desire. There will be
a door prize, and entertain-
ment will be provided by the
Holy Trinity Square Darnc-
ers. All of St. Mary's
families should plan to
attend.
A yard sale will be
sponsored in May. Anyone
having white elephant items
to donate should bring them
to the church basement
anytime after March 21.
Mrs. Delores Rutherford,
Director of Catholic Social
Services, will present a film
titled, “The First Days of
Life,”” on Thursday, April 8
at 8 p.m. in St. Mary’s
Church Hall. Mrs. Ruther-
ford is active in this program
and has been making these
presentations statewide.
Since this is a vital concern
to all people, the public is
cordially invited to attend.
Refreshments will be served
after the presentation.
Father Michael S. Kobu-
larick, the new pastor at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church,
Marietta, spoke to the
members, assuring them of
his complete support of the
Women’s Club. He expres-
sed his appreciation for all
the work being done for the
parish. He encouraged the
involvement of youth in
special projects. Father Mi-
chael talked about his work
in Marietta and at Assump-
tion of the Blessed Virgin
Church, Mount Joy. He said
that as things progress, he
will keep members advised.
He would like to spend time
with all the families on the
parish and will appreciate
being invited to their
homes.
The next meeting of St.
Mary’s Women’s Club will
be April 8, in the church
hall.

to an automobile accident on
Rt. 141 at Donegal Heights.
A local youth, Dean
Chapin, was killed. Rescue
workers were out one hour
and 10 minutes with 30 men.
Florin and Manheim
rescue trucks, and St.
Joseph Ambulance assisted
Friendship.
During the accident
Friendship responded from
the accident at 6:53 p.m.
