76 the fer ick ad r d k March 17, 1976 Letter to the editor Dear Editor, Approximately two weeks ago a letter from Mr. Billett Sr. appeared in your column. He stated his thoughts about old ragged flags appearing on the streets. As a young Ameri- can, I would like to say that I believe in America as much as anyone else. To me, the flag means as much whether ragged or brand new. Has this man forgotten the possibility that maybe some of these old torn flags have been passed down through generations from people that have fought for Ameri- ca? I believe that the impor- tance of our flag lies in the beauty of it’s making, not of it’s appearance. So. when I see that American flag, I feel proud whether it’s age is two days or two genera- tions.
