student Minoru Mujata; Lanc. Co. student Penn Glazier; moderator Dr. Robert
Eshleman; Puerto Rican student Ana Gonzales; Colombian student Alvaro Orozco; and

A fifieth anniversary is a
special occasion, and Satur-

1976, culminated a month
long celebration for the
Mount Joy Rotary Club.
A dinner program was
held at Hostetter’s Dining
Hall, with the Rotarians’
wives and special guests in
attendance.
President Carl R. Hall-
gren presented the Club
with a fifty year certificate
from Rotary International
along with their congratula-
tions.
The program included a
special music presentation
by the Lance Lads Quartette
and an International Dia-
logue featuring Rotary
Foundation Fellowship
Awardees. The graduate
students participating were
Ana Mercedes Gonzales,
Puerto Rico, and Alvaro
Miguel Orozco, Colombia,
South America, both study-
ing at Penn State Univer-
sity; Minoru Miyata, Japan,
studying at Bucknell Uni-
versity; and Penn Glazier, a
lawyer from Lancaster who
was a Rotary Group Study
Exchange to India. The
moderator was Rotarian Dr.
Robert F. Eshleman, Pro-
fessor of Sociology, Franklin
and Marshall College. Some
of the topics discussed by
the panel were their re-
actions to studying in a
foreign country, their back-
grounds and goals for life.
The Mount Joy Rotarians
have donated over $4,000 to
the International Fellowship
Fund and they are proud of
their participation in helping
the students continue their
education. This program
also enables the students to
become ambassadors of
good will and further inter-
national understanding.
The members of the SOth
Anniversary Committee
were G. Walter Sloan,
Chairman; John Booth,
Joseph Shaeffer, Charles
Groff, and Richard Rainbolt.
Del. couple praise local crew
by Hazel Baker
A local Mount Joy woman
visiting a relative in a
Wilmington, Delaware
hospital overheard a patient
praising the efforts of the
Mount Joy Ambulance
crew.
After Mr. and Mrs.
Carlisle McKnight and their
pet were in an accident of
Route 283 recently they
were taken to the hospital by
the local ambulance crew.
Later, the McKnights
received a considerate note
from the crew, asking about
their welfare and their pet’s.
The McKnights considered
the inquiry thoughtful.
