CONG. BIBLE FILM
“‘Queen of the Dark
Chamber,’’ a 40-minute
color/sound dramatic mo-
tion picture, will be shown
-Sunday night, March 7, at 7
o'clock at Congregational
Bible Church, Route 44l,
Marietta.
The film appeals to
viewers of all ages. It is both
historical and contempor-
ary. It tells of the life of
Christian Tsai, now living at
Leaman Place, Pa.: her
conversion from Buddhism
to Christianity, her suffer-
ings and triumphs during
the last days of the Manchu
dynasty in China, her trials
during World War II and the
Communist take-over, and
her flight to America.
Her love story, persecu-
tion and sacrifice are
skillfully woven into an
effective missionary chal-
lenge. In the history of the
church, extraordinary faith
has produced extraordinary
lives—such is the story of
Miss Tsai, author of the
best-selling Christian clas-
sic, ‘“Queen of the Dark
Chamber,”” on which the
film is based.
“Dark Chamber’ is de-
scriptive because of Miss
Tsai’'s confinement in a
darkened room since she fell
victim to malaria of the eyes
in 1931. Doctors then gave
her only three days to live,
She has not only lived, but
witnessed victoriously for
Jesus Christ since then.
Many Lancaster Counti-
ans have visited Miss Tsai in
her ‘‘dark chamber’’ in the
old Leaman farm house
along Route 30 in Leaman
Place. This film will be
especially meaningful to
them.
A freewill offering will be
received at the close of the
program.
GLOSSBRENNER
World Day of Prayer
Service will be held in the
Glossbrenner United Meth-
odist Church, Mount Joy, on
Friday, March S at 7:30p.m.
This is the ninetieth year of
the world wide celebration
of World Day of Prayer.
Highlights of the service
include three dramatic dia-
logues as special features
with the Mount Joy Com-
munity Chorus providing
several musical selections.
This year’s service has
been prepared by women in
Latin America and reflects
their concern for ‘‘Educa-
tion for All of Life.”” This
service provides and oppor-
tunity for Protestant, Cath-
olic and Orthodox women of
many races and languages
to demonstrate their unity in
Christ and to share in an
Jffering that will bring hope
and aid to thousands around
the globe.
Here in the United States
the offerings go into a fund
administered by the Inter-
continental Mission Com-
mittee of Church Women
United. This year funds will
be proved for projects in
Niger, Malagasy Republic
