from dunning for money during the pres
ent volume of our paper, until now, and
tiow we are sadly in want of it. Very
few of our subscribers have paid for vol_
utile '7, which expires on the 20th of
July, and a 'large amount remains on
our books for advertising and job work.
Onr patrons in the borough will be
waited on by a collector some time du
ring next week, whilst those at a diS
tance (a great many of whom are in-ar
rears for three and four years) will please
remit us by mail. The amount to each
'is very trifling, whilst the aggregate to
'us is our all. We cannot, during these
hard times, continue. The Mariettian

The Fourth of July.
Mr. Editor : Will you please allow
me, through your Journal, to Suggest
that those of our citizens who are not
otherwise engaged might, if the weather
be agreeable, spend rum FOURTH of JUI;Y
quite pleasantly in Col. Clark's beauti
ful grove, near where he has emoted the
wonderful wheel which, by its mystical
revolutions; turns water and lager up
and down alternately. Each party might
furnish their own provisious,and be on the
ground in time to organize a meeting at
12 Week noon. The Declaration of In
depenence might be read and Mr. A. B.
Grosh ,or some other person equally
competent might be requeSted to deliver
a short oration suitable to the day and to
the present eventful period of our his
tory. There might also be some volun
teer speeches and music, i after which we
could enjoy ourselves in regular free and
easy style as might best suit our several
tastes and inclinations. N. N.
We think the above suggeston a very
good ono ; we surely should, have some
kind of demonstration on the FOURTH,
and know of nothing better to recom

w ir David Williams, of Schuylkill
county, a member of the 15'th Regiment,
P. V. who lost his eye by falling on a
bayonet at Camp Johnson, near Lancas
ter, and who lay insensible for several
days, has so far recovered as to be able
to return home, and left with some of
his friends in the mail train on Wednes
day last. He has lost the use of one of
his arms from paralysis, induced by the
Injury to his bruin, and his left eye is ir
recoverably lust. Be says he no longer
suffers pain.
ilkr The Harrisburg Telegraph says
the body of a man was -found'a few days
since on a rock at Conewago, Falls, in
the Susquehanna river, near the Dauphin
Mid Lancaster line. The body was very
much disfigured, having evidently been
iti the water for some time. The de
ceased appeared to have been• respecta
bly dressed, and a silverwatch was found
on his person. He was supposed to
have been an up-river lumberman.
WANT F. D.Two hnudred and fifty .
good teamsters for' the Briny are wanted
at Harlsburg or Chambersburg. The
Government pays $2O per month, and
carries accepted parties tree of cost from
Harrisburg to Chambersburg: Each
teamster is allowed one soldier's ration
per day.
The Borough Tax collector de
sires us to say that he will commence
his collecting tour on Tuesday next.—

low figure, he is determined to grant no
longer Indulgence than the law compels
him to grant.

ranging- it in such , a manner as to produce at

ceived and carried out .by O:RMSBY, the cele
brated Bank Note Engraver of New York. It

of "Our Father," and then follow in success
ion the other parts of the prayer, every phrase
of which is engmvedi in tfie most elegant and
tasteful manner. Near the bottom of the pic
ture is a superbly executed head of Our Sa
viour, and encircling the upper part of the en
graving are ten angels, each bearing one of

ffled praise from. the religious community, as
there is nothing of a sectarmg character about
it, having been recommended by clergyman of
all denominations. As an ornament, it is one
of the most splendid ever published in this

poorer class of engravings. The size of the
