YESTERDAY'S ELECTION: The electi on
for Borough officers was hotly contested
yesterday. On Monday last public no
tice was given that a town meeting irre
spective of party, would be held on that
evening at the Town Hall for the pur
pose of nominating a "Union-Borough
Ticket." At the appointed time the
meeting was held, composed of all shades
of politics and a ticket amicably settled.
This ticket did not, however,answer the
ends of a certain arrogant faction of our
Borough and they determined to defeat
it; hence, on Tuesday evening another
(so called) meeting was held, composed of
eight or ten seer styled "leaders," and a
second ticket formed. This was the tick
et—the one that was to bring to its aid
all the real and pretended wealth of the
Borough and "our Trest-end"—this ticket
was formed by the clique which provides
"bread and employment" for the faithful
poor of the right streak in mid -winter--
which obtains "free passes" on the Rail
road for its chamberlains;—which has all
the wealth—real and personal of the Bo
rough ;—in a word, the clique which
"does and directs" the doings of the
town. How this mighty clique has fallen
—literally "gone to roost,"—having, with
all their money—promises of flour—
threats of discharge from work—and ev
ery conceivably menace, failed to elect
but a couple on their ticket—many of
whom were very deserving and honorable
men. The "old Captain" with all his
"frightful scars," received in his country's
defence CO which, by the aid of a
powerful glass, might be seen,—shared
the fate of the company he was in. We
append below the result:

part of the year 1852, while attending the State
and National Law School of the State of New
York, my hair, from a cause unknown to me,
commenced falling off very rapidly, so that in
the short space of six mouths the whole upper
part of my scalp was almost entirely bereft-of
its covering, and much of the remaining por
tion upon the side and back part of my head
shortly after became gray, so that you will not
be surprised when I tell you that upon my re
turn to the State of Indiana, my mere casual
acquaintances were not so much at a loss to
discover the cause of the change in my appear
ance, as my more intimate acquaintances were
to recognise me at all.
I at once made application to the most skill
ful physician in the country, but, receiving no
assurance from them that my hair could again
be restored, I was lotted to become reconciled
to my fate, until, fortunately, in the latter past
of the year 1857, your Restorative was recom

reliable flair Restorative in use. 1 tried one
bottle, and found to my great satisfaction that
it was producing the desired effect. Since that
time, I have used seven dollars' worth of your
Restorative, and as a result, have a rich coat of
very soft black hair, which no money can buy.
