fft We learn that information has

t at of the county committee,. that our
delegate election this evening is to be
held between the hones of 6 and 8 o'clock.
ibis will set at rest the question whisth-
It Marietta comes under the township
t t borough hours. This difficulty has .
lithatilly presented itself and we think
it future the committee should say defi
ziitelY whether Marietta is considered a
601311 811, or the 17th ale district.

ifir John C. Sullivan, of Philadelphia
made complaint before Esquire Artier
against James Mullen for obtaining
goods under false pretences, It appears
Mullen went to the firm of Nolan, Nor
ris & Co., and, with good recommenda
tions, obtained an agency from the firm
to sell goods *by sample. A lot of sam
ples and one hundred, and fifty dollars in
•cash, were furnished, him to start out
with. He came as far as this borough,
where he is well known, and got on a
spree and spent all his money, after
which he sold the samples, and then
wrote the Philadelphia firm for more
money, saying he was sick. The firm
suspecting something wrong, sent Mr.
Sullivan, who is a silent partner of the
firm, to ascertain the facts; upon his
arrival here he found 'Mullen as above
stated and 'had him arrested and put
under $3OO bail for his appearance at
court.
Or Oar town is greatly exercised now
as to who is . to be our new postmaster.
Several, long considered doubtful Re
publicans are said to have announced
their partiality for "My Policy."t A
few evenings since, on passing np Front
street, we observed a Copperhead snake
painted on "Ornll's Row," with the
words " Marietta is to have a " over the
snake; and under the snake, the word
"postmaster." We do not clearly see
the drift of the painter—does he intend
to convey the idea that Crull is to be
the Copperhead P. M. or not?
'A delegate election will be held in
the town hall school house, this (Satur
day) evening, between 6 and 8 o'clock,
to elect five delegates to represent this
borough. in County Convention, to be
held in Lancaster, on Wednesday next.
See the call of the County Committee
at the head:of this column.
sr Matthew M. Strickler, of Uolum_-

caster, are the delegates from this coun
ty to the Copper-Johnson convention to
be held in Philadelphia on the 14th in

4, Wistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry gives
universal satisfaction. It seems to cure a
cough by loosening and cleansing the lungs.

cause, instead of drying up the cough and
leaving the cause behind. I consider the

The Rev. JACOB &Mil LER, of Hanover, Pa.
Well known and mach respected among the
German population in this country, makes
the following statement for the benefit of
the afflicted.
DEAR SIRS :—Having realized in my family
important benefits from the use of your valu
able preparation—WlSTAß'S BALSAM OF
WILD CHERRY—it affords me pleasure to re
commend it to the public• Some eight years
ago one of my daughters seemed to be in a
decline, and little hopes of Ler recovery were
entertained. I then procured a bottle of your
excellent Balsam, and before she had taken
the whole of the contents of the bottle there
was a great improvement in her health. I
have, in my individual case made frequent
use of your valuable medicine, and have al
ways been benefitted by it. JACOB SECII LER.
