It aisu u rges the authorities of the city, i s e w York,) to measures to prevent the F orage, showing that where filth s od dirt exists, there will the cholera be. An d gives, for example, the populous c i t y of Worcester, on the river Severn, in England, which was twice visited by the cholera, the disease making fearful ravages, the third time when the cholera Iv o all around the city, the authorities undertook to avert, the calamity by mesas of effectual cleaning, and efficient eititary regulations. The result was t hat n ot a house was entered, and the lona was saved in the midst of the most frightful desolation which was going on all around it. We have heard persons ridicule the action of our town council i n appointing a sanitary committee to re that all filth and offal be removed from the bortdigh precincts, and we be lieve the useruluess of the committee has died out in connequence ; this is all very wrong, for where filth is disease will be. What could be easier th an i n, iotroductiou of this loathsome disease tythe eniigratt trains which run through this borough every morning; why not take pattern by the Phcenixville Iron works, which have already given notice to their tenants that from and after April lint, uo cows, goats, hogs, &c., will be allowed there, and that gardens, cellars, pens and outhouses must be cleansed and a general cleanliness ob served. Zptciat Noticez WELL TODAY, SICK TO-illlllllZOW.—Such is the experience of thousands. Few enjoy con tinuous health. To what does the occasional invalid attribute his uncertain condition ? Not to himself, of course. lie lays the blame on the climate, perhaps. It is too hot, or too cold, or too damp, or too dry, or too variable. But does he take the proper course to fortify his constitution and bodily organs against the extremes one changes of which he complains? No. 'lle says, perhaps, that only an iron man could bear such great heat, or such violent cold, or such sudden vicissitudes. Why then does he not resort to the great Tonic and Pre ventive, which, if it will not make him an iron man, will at least quadruple the capacity of his system to repel all external agencies that tend to produce disease? Hostetter's Celebrated Stomach Bitters, taken faithfully: . according to the directions, will so strengthen the stomach, brace the nerves, tone the liver, and regulate and invigorate the whole animal machinery, that the system, instead of being at the mercy of the weather, and liable to be prostrated by every change of temperature, will become case-hardened, as it wale, and almost impervious to climatic influences. (It is to this preventive principle that Hostetter's Bitters owe theirgreat popularity in the' West Indies, British America and Australia. T. LYON'S Pc aronrc.it I. Dimes.
