BAT6EDAY, OCTOBER 28,1866.
A PRINTOR'S PI :—Just as we were
about putting our outside form to press,
on Thursday morning, and whilst the
gist page was leaning against the impost.
igg stone, an advertiser came rushing in
—e little late and in a great hurry—and
ebilet explaining his business, thought
lessly threw his foot around behind him
and struck the form—and—and away
went the page with a 'mash to the floor
—making the most unpalatable looking
pia printer ever beheld. Domino our
feelings at seeing this heap of mixed
type, at the " tail end of the week," and
...had we been a swearing man, we would
have sworn what a Yankee calls
. a " blue
streak," but, being a cool, matter-of-fact,.
"was-to happen' ) creature, we told our
customer his little job would have to lay
over for a day or two, and we went vig
orously to work to repair damages. In
consequence, we have been compelled
to put two columns of advertisements
on the first page and omit several inten
ded for this week's issue. This has been
the only case of piing a form in our ex
perience of over twenty six years in a
printing office,and,—the Lord' willing,--
may it be the last.
- On Friday evening last, as a bur
den train, awaiting the arrival of the
evening passenger train, was backing in
to the fading attached to the freight
depot, in order to shift some cars con
taining cattle, a part of the. side track
gave way, precipitating one of the box
cars over a small embankment, killing
nee of the steers and injuring several
others. The cars were turned upside
down sad the cattle had to be taken
from the top of the cars.
