SATIMDAY, AUGUST 12, 1865
A horse attached to a buggy, con.
turning Mrs. Henry and Mrs. Paris Hal
deman, mother and wife of Paris rialde•
man, of Chikie furnace, near this place,
becam e unmanageable whilst starting
from in front of Spangler & Rich's store,
for days since, and, turning suddenly
around,upset the buggy, throwing the
younger Mrs. 13, into the street; the
horse continued his flight around Mrs.
A re a Whitehill's corner—dragging the
up turned buggy along, until near Mrs.
Whitehil's side door, where he became
detached, thus saving the elder Mrs.
U's lif e . The ladies were taken into
M r s, Whitehill's parlor and a physician
sent for, who pronounced no bones bro.
ken, but both were considerably injured.
short time Mr. Paris Haldeman
came with conveyances and removed
the ladies to his residence.

fir A meeting will be held in the
town hall school room, between the
boors of 6 and 8 o'clock, this evening to
elect five delegates to represent this
borough in County Convention, which
will assemble on • Wednesday next.
Amongst other nominations to be made,
is that of Associate Judge. It is to be
hoped our borough will send delegates
who will use all honorable means to se
em the nomination of John Jay. Lib
hart, for that responsible post. This
geotloman is a democrat of the Douglas
school and one, too, who boldly and no.
compromisingly assisted in every loyal
movement to aid the government during
the recent e rebellion. A gentleman of
fine education and spotless character ;
bin pure patriotism and worth would
adorn the bench. We do hope, there
fore, the Convention will not overlook
Mr. Libhart in filling this important po
sition.
a - There will be a County -Conven
tion of the Order of Te rn piers, in
this place, on Tuesday next, 15th inst.
The object of this convention in to ad
vance the cause of Temperance. Dele
gates from all the Lodges in the county
are expected.
a In consequence of a crowd of job
work we were unable to commence Mr.

city." They will be commenced in our

Ckt The State Agricultural Exhibi

last days of September next, promises
to be an unusual display. There are
now in process of erection stalls for
newly one thousand cattle, sheep and
hogs; a hall three hundred feet long
for protection to agricultural improve_
meets; a two-story hall, two hundred
feet long, for the display of embroidery,
pictures, statuary, piano and other arti

and a covered area, over-looking the
whole of the. ample grounds, capable of
seating fronadwo to three thousand per.
tons.
Cr There is a general arrival through
out the State of ekedaddlers who have
been residing fo r some time in Canada.
It is well to remind them that by Pres
ident Lincoln's proclamation, made in
pnrstiance of as act of Congress, all de
serters who failed to report before May
Ist, 1861 , are forever disfranchised as
American citizens.

NOT A FE TV
Of the worst disorders that afflict mankind
arise from the corruption that accumulates in
the Blood. Of all the discoveries that have
been made to purge it out, none can equal in
etrect
Compound Extract of Sarsaparrilla.
It cleanses and renovates the Blood, instils]
the vigor of HEALTH into the system,
and purges out the humors which make dis
ease. It stimulates the healthy functions *of
the body, and expels the disorders that grow
and rankle in the Blood. Such a remedy,
that could be relied on, has long been sought
for, and new, for the first time, , _ the 'public
have one on which they can depend. Our
apace here does not admit of certificates to
show its effects, but the trial of a single bot
tle will show to the sick that it has virtues
surpassing anything - they have ever taken.
Two tablcspoonsful of the Extract of Sams
penile, added to a pint of water, is equal to
the Lisbon Diet Drink, and one bottle is equal
to a gallon of the Syrup of Sarsaparilla, or
the decoction as usually made.
The above Extracts are prepared on purely
scientific principles—in Vacuo—and embody
the full strength of the ingredients entering in
to their cOrdposition. A ready and conclusive
test will be a comparison of their properties
with those set forth in the U. S. Dispensato
ry.
