ROWN.T.NG'S Exelsior Coffee
Whilst trying Coffee of all the various brands.
Remember " BROWNING'S EXCELSIOR"
—at the head it stands.
'frac, it's not like others that are "SOLD
EVERYWHERE."
A little stretch, we all do know, good goods
will easily bear,
( lint a stretch like this—"sold everywhere"—
is very apt to tear. )
Now, I can safely say - , withourinty hesitation.
There's none like "I3ROWNING'S EXCEL-
SlO 9." in this enlightened nation.
Skilled chemists have not found a Coffee from
any store
l'ossessing the same ingredients as "Brown-
ing's Excelsior."
Nor is there any one, in or out of the Coffee
trade,
Who knows the articles from which "Brown-
ing's IN...edgier's" made,
I'm told it's made from barley, rye, _wheat,
beans, and peas . ;
Name a thousand other things—but the
RIC HT ONE if you please.
But with the Coffee-men I will not hold con-
tention
For the many, many things they say—too nu-
meroue to mention. .
Whilst they're engaged in running round from

cause a quick reaction.

more--
To nalae their Coffee after mine, (BROWN

stand a ready test.
Now, try a little of them all—see which you
like the best.

Mrs. Maxwell's Testimonial.
New-York, December 23, 1562.
Knowing positively that Reeves' Ambrosia
produced a beautiful head of hair for Mrs.
Lizzie Shepherd, of Brooklyn, New-York, I
was induced, thereby, to use it thoroughly. I
needed something for my hair, it being short
and thin; had used one half-dozen bottles
when I could plainly notice an increase in its
length, strength and beauty. An experience
of about two years has proved a complete
success. My hail is now, by measurement,
four feet ten inches in length, reaching nearly
to the floor. I have allowed my photograph
to proclaim the merits of
BEEVES' AHDROSIA to the WORLD.

WHAT EVERYBODY KNOWS, viz :
That Iron well galvanized will not rust;'
That a simple machine is better than a com
plicated one;
That a Wringer should be self-adjusting,
durable, and efficient;
That Thumb-Screws, and Fastenings cause
delay and ti ouble to regulate and keep in order ;
That wood soaked in hot water will swell,
shrink and split ;
That wood bearings forithe shaft to run in
will wear out;
That the Putnam Wringer, with or without
cog- wheels, will not tear the clothes;
That cog-wheel regulators are not essential ;
That the Putnam Wringer has all the ad
vantages, and not one of the disadvantages
above named ;
That all wbo have tested it, pronounce it
the best Wringer ever made;
That it wilt wring anything from a thread
to a bed quilt without alteration ;
We might fill the paper with testimonials,
but insert only a few to convince the skepti
cal, if such there be ; and we , ;ay to all, test
Putnam's Wringer.
Test it thoroughly with any and ALL others,

PARTICULAR NOTICE.
There are many preparations sold under the
name of Bitters, put up in quart bottles, com
pounded of the cheapest Whiskey or common
Rum, costing from 20 to 40 cents per gallon,
the taste disguised by Anise or Coriander seed.
This class of Bitters has caused and will con
iinue to cause, as long as they can be sold,
aundreds to die the death of a drunkard. By
their use the system is kept continually under
the influence of alcoholic stimulants of the
worst kind, the desire for liquor - 1s created and
kept up, and the result is all the horrors at
tendant upon a drunkard's life and death. Be
ware of them.
For those who desire and will have a liquor
bitters, we publish the following receipt
Get one bottle Hoolland's German Bitters and
mix with three quarts of good
,Whiskey or
Brandy, and the result will be a preparation
that will far excel in medicinal virtues and
true excellence any of the numerous liquor
bitters in the market, and will cost much less.
You will have all the virtues of Hooftand's Bit
ters in connection with a good articlo of liquor
and at a much less price then these inferior
preparations will cost you.
Those suffering front marasmus, wasting
away, with scarcely any flesh on their bones
are cured in a very short time; one bottle in
such cases, will have most surprising effect.
DEBILITY,
Resulting from Fevers of any kind—these bit
ters will renew your strength in a short time.
FEVER AisiD AGUE.—The chills will not re
turn if these Bitters are used. No person in a
fever and ague district should be without them.
From Rev. J. Newton Brown, D. D., Editor
of the Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge.
Although not ilisposed to favor or recommend
Patent Medicines in general, through disti ast
of their ingredients and effects; I yet know
of no suflici mt reason why a man nitt, not tes
tify to the benefits he believes himself to have
received from any simple preparation, in the
hope that he may thus contribute to the bene
fit of others.
I do this more readily in regard to Hooflaud's
German Bitters, prepared by Drs C, M. Jackson
because I was prejudiced against them for a
number of years, under the impression that
they were chiefly an alcoholic mixture. lam
indebted to my friend Rob't Shoemaker, esq.,
for the removal of this prejudice by proper
tests, and for encouragement to try them, when
suffering from great and long debility. The
use of three battles of these bitters, at the be
ginning of the present year, was followed by
evident relief, and restoration to a degree of
bodily and mental vigor which I had not felt
for six months before, and had almost dispair
ed of regaining. I therefore thank God and
my friend for directing me to the use of them.

ATTENTION! SOLDIERS.'
AND THE FRIENDS OF SOLDIERS.
$452,715:69
We call the attention of all having relations
or friends•in the army to the fact that "Hoof
land's German Bitters" will cure nine-tenths
of the diseases induced by privation and ex
posures incident to camp life. In the lists
published almost daily in the newspapers, ou
the arrival of the sick, it will be noticed that
a very large proportion are suffering from de
bility. Every case of that kind can be readi
y cured by Hooiland's German Bitters. We
have no hesitation in stating that, if these bit
ters are freely used among our soldiers, hund
reds of lives might be saved that otherwise
would be lost.
The proprietors ..re daily receiving thankful
letters from sufferers in the army and hospi
ta]s,who have been restored to health by the use
of these Bitters, sent to them by their friends.
Beware of counterfeits! See that the sig
nature of "C. M. Jackson," is on the wrapper
of each bottle.
Large Size, $1:00 per bottle, or dozen for $5,
Medium size, 75c per bottle, or -

The larger size, on account of the quantity
the bottles hold, are much the cheaper.

Analysis of the 11lass. State Assayer. [lS5B.]
When evaporated through clean linen it lets
no oil or offensive matter. In every respect
it is a PURE spirituous liquor. The oil which
gives to this Brandy its flavor and aroma, is
wholly unlike fusil or grain oil. Its odor par
takes of both the fruit and oil of grapes. With
acids it produces ethers of a high fragrance.
The substitution of this Brandy for Cognac
Brandy will do away with the manufacttire of
FICTITIOUS spirits, sold under this name bath
at home anffabroad. Respectfully,
A. A. HAYES, M. D., state Assayer,
16 Boyleston-st.
BY THE SAME, /N 1564.
I have analysed " L. LYONS' Pure Catawba
Brandy," with reference to its composition and
character, being the same as that produced in
past years. A sample taken from ten casks
afforded the same results with regard to puri
ty ; a slightly increased amount of the princi
ple on which its flavor depends was determin
ed by comparison will former samples.
The indications of analysis show that this
Brandy is produced by the same process as
most of the imported Brandy.
Respectfully, A. A. HAvEs, M. D.,
State Assayer, 16 Boyleston-st.
