0 - At the meeting of 'Susquehanna
Lodge 1. 0. of Good Tenn:dare, on the
19th instant, the followieg preamble
and resolutions were adopted :
Whereas, The Chief Magistrate of
the Nation, while bouyaut with the
brightning prospects of the future, and
hopeful of the approaching peace to our
country, has suddenly fallen a victim to
the heoious barbarism of rebel conspire
'.Ors.
Therefore, I?esolve, That in the
death of Abraham Lincoln the nation
nas been bereft of a President whose
h.unest,y of purpose, goodness of heart,
and uuswefving fidelity to his country's
.veifare, has endeared him to his loyal
countrymen above all others, since the
'lays of the Immortal Washington.
Resolved, That in the murder of one
chose only fault was 'excessive maple- ,
nimity to his deadly enemies, evinces
villainy unparalled on the part of the
rebel leaders, whom we believe plotted
his assassination.
Resolved, That in this untimely death
the Temperance cause has lost an able
and consistent advocate. whose voic e
and position would have done much to
strengthen the cause in the approaching
struggle with the slavery of intemper
ance.
Resolved, That with deep humility
we bow to this affliction that the wis•
dom of God has seen fit to permit, and
with sadness of heart we would approach
the relations of the illustrious dead and
mingle our sorrow with theirs, in mourn
ing this national bereavement.
Resolved, That in respect for the
dead we will have our Ball draped in
mourning for thirty days.
llesolued, That the foregoing resolu
tions be sent to the Mariettian and
Daily ExprPss for publication.
