Analysis of the Mass. State Assayer. [1858.]
When evaporated through clean linen it lets
no oil or offensive matter. In every respect
it is a PURE spirituous liquor. The oil which
gives to this Brandy its flavor and'aroma, is
wholly unlike fusil or grain oil. Its odor par
takes of both the fruit and oil of grapes. r With
acids it produces ethers. of a high fragrance.
The substitution of this Brandy for Cognac
Brandy will do away with the manufacture of
piefrrions spirits, sold under this name both
at home and abroad. Respectfully,
A. A. flavEs, M. D., State Assayer,

BY THE SAME,-IN 1864. -
'I have analysed " L. LYONS' Pure Catawba
Brandy," with reference to its composition and
character, being the same as that produced in
past 3 ears. A sample taken from ten casks
afforded the same results with regard to puri
tyi, a slightly increased amount of the piinci
ple on which its flavor depends was determin
ed- by comparison with former samples.
'The indications at analysis show that this
Brandy is produced by the same process as
most of the imported Brandy.
Respectfully,' A. A. HAYES, Ist. D.;

from their own lips.
Knowing positivelythat Reeves' Ambrosia
produced a beautiful head of hair for Mrs.
Lizzie Shepherd, of Brooklyn, New-York, I
was induced, thereby, to use it thoroughly. I
needed something for my hair, it being short
and thin ; had used one half-dozen bottles
when I could plainly - notice an.increase in its
length; strength and beauty. A

of about 'two years has prove'd, a complete
success. My hail is now, by measurement,

• HOSTETTER'S BITTERS. •
A PURE AND POWERFUL. TONIC,
Uri
Ccirrective' and alternative of wonderful effica
cy in disease of the . Stomach, Liver and Bow
els; cures Dyspepsia, Liver Complaint, Head

sion of Spirits, Constipation, Colic, Intermittent
Fcvcrs, Cramps and Spasms, and all complaints
of either sex; arising from bodily weakness
whether inherent in the system or produced
by special causes.
Nothing that is not wholesome, genial and
restorative in its nature enters into the compo
sition of Hostettees Stomach Bitters. This
popular preparation contains no mineral of
any kind, no deadly botanical element ; no fi
ery excitant, but it is a combination of the ex
tracts of rare balsamic herbs and plahts with
the purest and mildest of all diffusive stimu
lants.
'lt is well to be forearmed against diseaso,
and so far as the human system can be protec
ted by human means against maladies en
gendered by an unwholesome atmosphere, im
pure water and other external causes,
HOSTETTER'S BITTERS
may be relied on as a safeguard.
In districts infested with Fever and _4sue, it
has been found infallible as a preventative and
irresistible as a remedy, and thousands who
resort to it under apprehension of an attaek,
escape the scourge; and thousands who ne
glect ro avail themselves of its protective qual

course of this marvelous medicine. Fever and
Ague patients, after being plied wi th quinine
for months in vain, until fairly satu rated with
that dangetous alkaloid, are not unfrequently
restored to health within a few daysby'the use
of Hostetter's Betters.
The weak stomach is rapidly . invigofated
and the appetite restored by this agreeable to
nic, and hence it works 'wonders in cases of
Dyspepsia and in less confirmed forms of indi
gestion. Acting as a gentle and painlesii appe
rient, as well as upon the liver, it also invari
ably relieves the Constipation superinduced by
irregular action of the digestive and secretive
organs. Persons of feeble habit, liable to ner
vous attacks, lowness of spirits and fits of lan
gour, find prompt and permanent relief from
the Bitters. The testimony on this point is
most conclusive, and from both sexes.
