The weak stomach is rapidly invigorated
and the appetite restored by ibis agreeable to
nic, and hence it works wonders in cases of
Dyspepsia and in less confirmed forms of indi
gestion. Acting as a gentle and painless appe
/lent, as well as upon the liver, it also invari
ably relieves the Constijiation superinduced by
Irregular action of the digestive and secretive
organs. Penang of feeble habit, liable to ner
vous attacks, lowness of spirits and fits of lair
gour, find prompt and permanent relief from
the Bitters. The testimony on this point is
/nonconclusive, and from both sexes.
The agony of Bilious Colic is immediately
assuaged by a single dose of the stimulant, and
by occasionally resorting to it, the return of the'
complaint may be prevented.
Last, but not least, it is The Only Safe Stim

acid elements present more or less in all the:

gress of March Bth, 1864, which provides that
all Bonds issued under this Act shall be EX
EMPT FROM TAXATION ny or under any
state or municipal authority. Subscriptions
to these Bonds are received in United States
notes or notes of National Banks. They are
TO BE REDEEMED IN COIN, at the plea
sure of the Government, at any period not less
than ten months nor more than forty years
from their date, and until their redemption
FIVE PER CENT. INTEREST WILL BE
PAID IN COIN, on Bonds of not over one
hundred dollars annually and on all other
Bonds semi-annually. -The interest is pay.
able on the first days of March and Septem
ber in each year.
Subscribers will receive either Registered
or Coupon Bonds, as they may prefer, Reg
istered Bonds are recorded on the books of
the U. S. Treasurer, and can be transferred
only on thy owner's order. Coupon goods,
are payable to bearer, and are more cpnve:-

It is believed, that no securities offer eo
great inducements to lenders us the various
descriptions of U. S. Bonds. In all other

communities only is pledged for payment,.
while for the debts of the United States the
whole property of the country holden to
teecure the paybsent of both principal and in
erest in coin.
These bonds may be subscribed for in sums,
from $450 up to any magnitude, on the same
terms, and are thus made equally available
to the smallest lender and the largest capital=
ist. They can be converted into money at
any moment, and the holder will have the
benefit of the interest.
It may be useful to state in this connection
that the total Funded Debt of the United
States on which interest is payable in gold,
on the 3d day of March, 1864, was $768,965,-
000. The interest on this debt for the canting
fiscal year will be $45,937,126, while the cus
toms revehue in gold for the Current fiscal
year, ending June 30th,
,1564, has been so far
at the rate of over $100,000,000 per annum.
It will be seen that even the present gold
revenues of the Government are 'largely in
excess of the wants of the Treasury for the
payment of the gold interest, while the recent,
increase of the tariff will doubtless raise thi
annual receipts from customs on the; same
amount of importations, to $150,000;000 per
annum.
