Gar J. M. Kreiter has been appointed
route agent on the mail route between
Philadelphia and Harrisburg, in place
of William Reitzel, resigned. We
are very sorry to part with Mr. Reitzel,

turned from New Mexico, where he has
resided for the past eighteen months.
Mr. C. says the indians have again bro
ken out, playing sad havoc among the

press, from reliable authority that the
organization of Col. Joseph W. Fisher's
regiment has been completed. 'The

highly respectable lady, fell down stairs
a few days since and was badly injured.
As we go to press the report is current

ter Whilst Dr. Hinkle was visiting
young Clark, on Saturday evening last,
about 9 o'clock, he left his horse and
buggy tied at the side door; during the
short time he was in the house, some
fearless, lawless scamps jumped into
the buggy and drove off. The horse
was discovered loose in Maytown on
Sunday morning. The animal was a
spirited and valuable oro , (l)elonging to
Mr. Samuel C. Slaymaker, formerly of
Ephrata Springs, who was paying the
Doctor a flying call, when the Doctor
got the use of the team to drive to Col.
I Clarks—only a couple of squares—)and
when found had been driven nearly to
death. Such scoundrels should have the
severest penalty of the law laid on them,
eir James Clark, son of Col. John W.
Clark, of this borough, aged about 17
years, met with almost a fatal accident
a few days since, whilst handling a pis
tol, which, by some means was discharg
ed, the ball entering near the wrist and
passing up and under the arm, coming
out near the shoulder ; in its course gra
zed an artery. The young man has suf
fered most excruciating pain for more
than a week and was in a very critical
condition, for days regarded by his
physicians as at death's door. On F ri
day morning, yesterday, however, he was
considered as out of danger.

borough, was brought home on Saturday
evening last. He was wounded in the
foot in ono of the Virginia battles, a
week or two since and brought. home
for treatment. Dr. F. Flinkle amputa•
ted just above the foot and the patient.
