TIIE LATE LIEUTENANT MIiiIILEII.-A_ letter has been received in this city, says one of our Lancaster exchanges, from a lady residing in Santa Fe, New ➢lsxieo, in which reference is made to the late Lieut. Lyman Mishler, of this city, anti who fell at the battle of Val verde, while gallantly defending the guns of the battery to which he was at tached. The letter requests Mr. M. to write to William Zeckerdorf, of Albur querque, N. M., who has a medal of honor belonging to his son, and who can furnish a satisfactory account of his death. The letter says the Lieutenant would not leave the guns, and after all the rest had left, and no other means of defense were at hand, he drew his re volvers, one of which he fired and had raised his arm to fire the other when a cannon ball passed through his breast, making a clean hole through the body. His hand, still grasping the unloaded pistol, was lying by his side, while the loaded pistol was above his head just as it was when he was about to fire. The letter concludes with the remark : "He was a brave young soldier, they say, and his conduct will never be forgotten by the loyal people of Mexico." , Mr. Mishler, we learn, intends to make another effort to recover the body of hia eon, and have it interred in one of the cemeteries of this city.
