One dollar is a trifle to each subscriber, whilst to us it is very nearly our all. lir A very dressing railroad acci dent occured at :Chikies, about a mile east of this place, ion Tuesday morning about 'eleven o'clock. It appears that a lot of cattle broke from one of Mr. Sterline's fields arid found their way to the railroad. A passing burthen train was obstructed and thrown from the track and two men badly hart; one, Abraham Rife, the conductor, from May town, bad his thigh broken and was otherwise injured. This was Rife's last trip as a railroader, and was the only unfortunate one. Another man connect ed with the train, whose name wo did not learn, was also injured in the leg.— Two or three cows were billed. Eight cars were literally mashed to pieces. We learn the attendance was very largo. Barr Spangler, Esq., of this borough, was the representative of "Susquehanna Lodge." pEr " Wit-Monday" was disgracefully observed in our borough. A dutch ball was carried on nearly all night at the Town Hall, where 'tis said twenty-six kegs of lager were drank, and Dutch, as well as Americans, disgraced them selves. On Friday morning the cry of fire brought the engines out. The "old mud house" on the Maytown road—used as a negro but, but, owned by an Industrious Uerman, was burned to the ground. tw The Eclipse appeared according to calculation. The whole duration was about throe hours, - which was very beautiful and interesting. QE' Dr. Hinkle has so far recovered as to be able to leave his home on a short visit to Philadelphia. Cr Notwithstanding the inclement weather, the Circus was crowded to ex cess, on Saturday evening last. czt. Tolls are now collected on the Marietta and Mount Joy turnpike.
