Mr. -' John B. Morris and Samuel Collins having purchased a couple of houses on the corner of Front and Horn streets, ,are about fitting them up very nicely ; in fact Mr. Collins is entirely rebuilding his, which, when completed, will put an entirely new fees upon that heretofore delapidated looking corner. ', '''' ~.. COLONEL HENRY HAMBRIGHT.—This gallant officer, a native and citizen of this county, has already been received into the confidence of Major General Sherman, inKentucky, and will no doubt prove himself worthy of the expectations of his numerous friends. GOVERNMENT HORSES : The army cor respondent of The Boston Journal fur nishes the following interesting horse item : Forty-two thousand six hundred mules and horses have been purchased by government for the army, at a cost of about $5,500,000. The contracts are about closed. For, months the streets have been filled with horses ; go where you would, you would find boys and men leading, riding and driving them, each man or boy having from six to ten in charge. The goverment corrals are near the Observatory. There at any time you may see from three to seyn thousand. There the horse dealers con gregate, stout, burly, tobacco-chewing men, with their eye-teeth cut. There, too, are the imperious inspectors, whose word is of great consequence to contrac tors. An accepted horse receives the mark of ownership, U. S., on his left shoulder, and is respected according to his rank. If he is of az istocratic mould; if he, like individuals of the higher or der of manimatnalia, can carry a high head, and move with a consequential air, he is caparisoned with gilt ,trappings, and receives nice' attentions, as a gen eral thing an easy time of it ; but if he is only of common blood, or has a hide like au old hair trunk, or if he, would answer as a standing advertisement of a grain dealer—" Oats wanted ; inquire within," he is turned over to the mercies of the teamsters of the baggage trains, some of whom know as little of teaming as of balloon navigation. Government is losing enormous sums in the wear and tear and unnecessary abuse of horse flesh, in the cutting, slashing, pounding, inefficient care and neglect of teamsters, and the furious galloping of soldiers and officers over the pavements, up hill and down, as if a horse had muscles of iron and nerves of steel. An Effective, Safe and Economical Compound For restoring Gray Hair to its original color without dyeing, and preventing the hair from turning gray. For Preventing Baldness, and curing it, when there is the least particle of vitality or recuper ative energy remaining. For Removing Scurf and Dandruff, and all cutaneous affections of the Scalp. For Beautifying the Hair, imparting to it an unequalled gloss and brillancy, making it roft and silky in its texture and causing it to curl readily. The great celebrity and the increasing . de mand for this unequalled preparation, convince the proprietor that one trial is only necessary to satisfy a discerning public of its superior qualities over another preparation at present in use. It cleanses the head and scalp from dand ruff and other cutaneous diseases. Causes the hair to grow luxuriantly, and gives it a rich, soft, glossy and flexible appearance, and also where the hair is looseninff b and thinning, it will give strength and vigor to the roots, and restore the growth to those parts which have become bald, causing it to yield a fresh covering of hair. There are hundreds of ladies and gentlemen in New York who have had their hair restored by the use of this Invigorator, when all other preparations had failed. - L. M. has in his pos session letters innumerable testifying to the above facts, from persons of the highest respec tibility. It will effectually prevent the hair from turning gray until the latest period of life ; and in cases where the hair has already changed its color, the use 6f the Invigorator will with certainty restore to its original hue, giving it a dark, glossy appearance. As a perfume toilet and a Hair Restorative it is particularly rec ommended, having an agreeable fragrance; and the great facilities-it affords in dressing the hair, which, when moist with the Invigo- Ator can be dressed in any required ferm so as to preserve its place, wheth-r plain or m curls —hence the great demand for it by the ladies as a standard toilet article which none ought to be without, as the price places it within the, reach of all, being _ DAVID HARRY. ONLY TWENTY-FIVE CENTS. per bottle, to be had at all respectable diuggista and perfumers. L. Miller would call the attention of Parents and Guardians to the use of his Invigorator, in cases where the childrens' Hair inclines to be weak. The use of it lays the foundation fora good head of hair, as it removes any impurities that may have 'become connected with the scalp, the removal of which is necessary both for the health of the child, and the future ap pearance of its Hair. The experience of thousands daily proves that no preparation of Iron can be compared. with it. impurities of the blood, depression' of vital energy, pale and otherwise sickly complexions, indicates its necessity in almost every conceivable case. • , Innoxious in all maladies in' whieh'if halt been tried; it has proved abablutelycuratite iat each of the following complaints, viz : In Debility, NOY - VOUS Affeetisns; Emaciation, Dyspepsia, Constipation, Diarrhea, Dy.sente- - ry, Incipient Consumption, Scrofulous Tntrar culosis, Salt Rheum, Mismenstruation, Chto • rosis,Whites,Liver Complainti,.Chronic Head . aches, Rheumatism, Intermittrut _Fevers, Pint- - pies on the face, arc. In cases of. General Debility, whether' did te. l . - suit of acute disease, or of the contimied"dim inution of nervous and muscular ehergy front chronic complaints, one trial of this testorativtv has proved successful to an extentwhick no' description nor written attestation world rend- - er credible.. Invalids so long bed-ridden as•to' have become forgotten in their own neighbor- , !Mods, have suddenly re-appeared in the busy world as•if just returned from protracted travel , in a distatat land. Some very signal instances• of thiErkind are attested of female Sufferers, emaciated victims of apparent marasmusisane' guineous exhabbtion;, crittical changes, and' that compliCatiof of nervous and dyspepti aversion" to' air and exercise for which the phy-' sician has no name. lb' Nervous Affections of all kinds, and for reasoos•familiar to medical men, theoperation of this prepailatibn. of iron must necessarily be salutary, for, unlike the old oxides, it is vigo rously tonic; Without being exciting and over heating ; and gently, regularly aperient, even , in the most obstinate'clises of costiveness with out ever being a gastricPuigative, or inflicting a disagreeable sensation: It is this latter piopeitYi among others, which makes it so remarkably effectual and permanent a remedy for Plies r upon which it also appears to exert a distinct and specific' action, by dispersing the local•tendency which forms them. In Dyspepsia, innumerable as are its causes, a single box of these Chalybeate ?Whims' often' sufficed for the most habitual cases, including the attendent Costiveness. In unchecked Diarrhea, even, when , ad- - vented to Dysentary, confirmed, emaciating, , and apparently malignant, the effects have been equally debisive and astonishing. In the local pains-, loss of flesh and strength, debilitating cough, and remitten hectic, which generally indicate Incipient Consumption, this remedy has allaYed the alarm of friends and physicians, in several very gratifying and in teresting instances. ' In Scrofulous I l 'uM•cielosis; this medicated iron has had far more than the'good , effect of the, most cautiously balanced preparations o iodine, without any of their well known Ha-- The attention of halides cannot be'tno con- - ftdently invited to - this remedy and restorative,• in- the cases peculiarly affecting them. In Rheumatism, both chronic and inflarnina , tory—in the latter, however, more decidedly—. - it has been invariably well reported, both as Alleviating pain and reducing the swellings and stiffness of the joints and muscles. Iri Intermittent Fevers it must necessarily be* a great remedy and energetic restorative, and , its progress in the new settlements of the West,. will probably be one of high renown and use fulness. No' renfedY has . vier been distoveted iir the' whole' history of medicine, which exerts such' prompt, happy, and fully restorative effecta.--4 Good appetite, complete digestion, rapid acqui salon of strength, with an unusual disposition for active mid cheerful exercise, immediately follow its use: Put up in neat.flat metal boxes containing 50 pills, priee 50 cents pper box; for sale by druggists and dealer's.
