The amount of bodily and mental misery arising simply from a neglect of small complaints is surprising, and t is therefore of the utmost importance that a strict attention to the least and most trifling bodily ailment should be had ; for diseases of the body must invariably affect the mind. The subscribers now only ask a trial of Dr. I. Boyce Dods' Imperial Wine Bitters/ From all who have not used thorn. We chal lenge the world to produce their equal. These Bitters for the cure of Weak Stomachs, General Debility, and for Purifying and Em ricking the Blood, are absolutely unsurpassed by any other remedy on earth. To be assured of thie, it is only necessary to make the trial. The Wine itself is of a very superior quality, being about one-third stronger the other wines; warming and invigorating the whole system from the bead to the feet. As these bitters are tonic and alterative in their character, so they strengthen and invigorate the whole system and give a fine tone and healthy action to all its parts, by equalizing the circulation, re moving obstructions, and producing a general warmth. They arc also excellent for Diseases and Weakness pcculair to Females, where a tonic is required to strengthen and brace the sys tem. No lady, who in subject to lassitude and faintness, should be without them, as they are revivifying in their action. 12 Vase Bitters will not only cure, but prevent disease, and in this respect are doubly valua ble to the person who may use them. For Incipient Consumption. Weak Lungs, Indigestion, Dyspepsia, Diseases of the Nervous System, Paralysis, Piles, DR. DODS' CELEBRATED WINE BITTERS ARE UNSURPASSED Fur Sore Throat, so common among the Clergy, they-are truly valuable. For the aged and infirm, and for persons of a weak constitution—for Ministers of the Gos pel, Lawyers, and all public speakers—for Book-Keepers, Tailors, Seamstresses,Students, Artists, and all persons leading a sedentary life, they will prove truly beneficial. As a Beverage, they are wholesome, inno cent, and delicious to the taste. They produce all the exhilarating effects of Brandy or Wine, without intoxicating ; and arc a valuable rem edy for persons addicted to the use of exces sive strong drink, and who wish to refrain from it. They are pure and entirely free from the poisons contained in the adulterated Wines and Liquors with which the country Is flooded. These Bitters not only cure, but prevent Dis ease, and should be used by. all who live in a country where the water Is bad, or where Chills and Fevers are prevalent. Being en tirely innocent and harmless they may be giv en freely to Children and Infants with Im punity. Physicians, Clergymen, and temperance ad vocates, as an act of humanity, should assist in spreading these truly valuable Bitters over the land, and thereby essentially aid in ban ishing Drunkenness and Disease. In all affections'of the Head, Sick Headache, or Nervous Headache, Dr. Dods' Imperial Wine Bitters will be found to be most salutary and efficacious. FEMALES. The many certificates which have been ten dered us, and the letters which we are daily receiving, are conclusive proof that among the women these Bitters have given a satisfaction which no others have ever done before. No woman in the land should be without them, and those who once use them wilt not fail to keep a supply. Dr. T. Bovee Dods' Imperial Wine Bitters Are prepared by an eminent and skillful physidian who has used them successfully in his practice for the last twenty-five years. The proprietor, before purchasing the exclusive right to manufacture and sell Dr. J. Boyce Dod's Celebrated Imperial Wino Bitters, had them tested by two distinguished medical practitioners, who pronounced them a valuable remedy for disease. Although the medical men of the country, as a general thing, disapprove of Patent Med icines, yet we du not believe that a respectablo Physician can be found in the United• States, acquainted with their medical properties, who will not highly approve Dr. J. Bowe Dad's Imperial Wine Bitters. In all newly settled places, where there is always a large quantity of decaying timber from which a poisonous miasma is created, these bitters should be used every morning be fore breakfast. Dr. J. Boum Dods' Imperial Wine Bitters Are composed of a pure and unadulterated Wine, combined ' with Barberry, Solomon's Seal, Comfley, Wild Cherry Tree Bark, Spike nard, Chamomile Flowers, and Gentian.— They are manufactured by Dr. Dods himself, who is an experienced and successful Physi cian, and hence should not be classed among the quack nostrums which flood the country, and against which the medical profession are so justly prejudiced. These truly valuable Bitters have been so thorougly tested by all classes of the communi ty for almost every variety of disease incident to the human system, that rhat they are now deemed indispensable as a Tonic, Medicine and a Beveragc.—P inacattaz ONE BOTTLE I--IT CM BUT LITTLE Purify the Blood I—Give tone to the ' Stomach I—Renovate the system and Prolong Life. _o_ PRICE $1 PER BOTTLE; 6 FOR $5. Garner of Elbow Lane and Market St next door to Cassets-13torg. Maxietta, 04tobex 29415 W, DR. MOTT'S CHALYBEATE RESTORATIVE I'ILLS OF IRON. An Aperient and Stomachic preparation of cr on purified of Oxygen and ,Carbou by lombustion in Hydrogen. Sanctioned by the highest Medical Authorities, both in Europe and the United States, and prescribed in thei. practice. The experience of thousands daily proves that no preparation of Iron can be compared with it. Impurities of the blood, depression of vital energy, pale and otherwise sickly complexions, indicate its necessity in almost every conceivable case. Innoxious in all maladies in which it has been tried, it has proved absolutely curative in each of the following complaints, viz : In Debility, Nervous Affections, Emaciation, Dyspepsia, Constipation, Diarrhea, Dysente ry, Incipient Consumption, Sc•roftdous Tuber culosis, Salt _Rheum, Mismenstruation, Chlo rosis,Whites,Liver Complaints,Chronic Head aches, Rheumatism, Intermittet Fevers, Pim- plea on the late, In eases of General Debility, whether the re suit of acute disease, or of the continued dim inution of nervous and muscular energy from chronic complaints, one trial of this restorative has proved successful to an extent which no description nor written attestation would rend er credible. Invalids so long bed-ridden as to have become forgotten in their own neighbor hoods, have suddenly re-appeared in the busy world as if just returned from protracted travel in a distant land. Some very signal instances of this kind are attested of female Sufferers, emaciated victims of apparent marasmus, sane guineous exhaustion, crittical changes, and that complication of nervous and dyspepti aversion to air and exercise for which the phy sician has no name. In Nervous Affections of all kinds, and for reasons familiar to medical men, the operation of this preparation of iron must necessarily be salutary, tor, unlike the old oxides, it-is vigo rously tonic, without being exciting and over heating ; and gently, regularly aperient, even in the most obstinate cases of costiveness with out ever being a gastric purgative, or inflicting a disagreeable sensation. It is this latter property, among others, winch makes it so remarkably effectual and permanent a remedy for Piles, upon which it also appears to exert a distinct and specific action, by dispersing the local tendency which forms them. In Dyspepsia, innumerable as are its causes, a single box of these Chalybeate Pills has often sufficed for the most habitual cases, including the attendent Costiveness. In unchecked Diarrhea, even when ad vanced to Dysentary, confirmed, emaciating, and apparently malignant, the effects have been equally decisive and astonishing. In the local pains, loss of flesh anicstrengtb, debilitating cough, and nemitten hectic, which generally indicate Incipient Co nsumption, this remedy has allayed the alarm of friends and physicians, in several very gratifying and in teresting instances. In Scrofulous Tuberculosis, this medicated iron has had far more than the good effect of the most cautiously balanced preparations of iodine, without any of their well known lia bilities. The attention of females cannot be tno con fidently invited to this remedy and resterative, in the cases peculiarly affecting them. In Rheumatism, bath chronic and inflamma tory—in the latter, however, more decidedly— it has been invariably well reported, both as alleviating pain and reducing the swellings and stiffness of the joints and muscles. In Intermittent Fevers it must necessarily be grea t rem edy and energetic restorative, and its progressin the new settlements of the West, will probably be one of high renown and use fulness. N o r emedy has ever been discovered in the whole history of medicine, which exerts such prompt, happy, and fully restorative effects.— Good appetite, complete digestion, rapid acqui sition of strength, with an unusual disposition for active and cheerful exercise, immediately follow its use. Put up in neat flat metal boxes containing 50 pills, price 50 cents per box; for salo by druggists and dealers. Will be sent free to any address on receipt of the price. All let ters, orders, etc., should be addressed to It. 11. LOCKE & CO., General Agents , 20 Cedar-at., N. V. C OLUMBIA INSURANCE COMPANY. My family and friends all concurin the opin ion that the (Newell) Picture is more life-like than anything they ever saw. My - likeness has been repeatedly taken by artists in various ways, but I have never yet had one which pre sents so true to nature, all the features and ex pressions of countenance as this. From Hon. E. Joy Morris, late Minister to Italy. The exquisite finish, beauty and softness of your portraits, conjoined with their durability of color and faithfulness as likenesses, cannot fail to commend them to the attention and pa tronage of all who appreciate true art. From Col. James Page. Having occasion for a portrait, I procured one from Mr. Robert Newell, of the city of Philadelphia, a miniature in Oil Colors, under the new process discovered by Aim, and take great pleasure in expressing the satiafaction giv en me ' not only by the accuracy of the likeness, but its artistic finish in all respects, and meow- Mend him to the patronage of these disposed to encourage the beautiful art. 4111fEa PAGE. For miming Gray Hair to its original color without dyeing, and preventing the hair from turning gray. For Preventing Baldness, and curing it, when there is the least particle of vitality or recuper ative energy remaining. For Removing Scurf and Dandrur, and elf cutaneous affections of the Scalp. For Beautifying- the Hair, imparting to it an unequalled gloss and brillancy, making it raft and silky in its texture and causing it to cur! readily. . The great celebrity and the increasing de mand for this unequalled preparation, convince the proprietor that one trial is only necessary to satisfy a discerning public of its superior qualities over another preparation at present in use. It cleanses the head and scalp from dand ruff and other cutaneous diseases. Causes the hair to grow luxuriantly, and gives it a rich, soft, glossy and flexible appearance, and rase where the hair is loosening and thinning, it will give strength and vigor to the roots, and restore, the growth to those parts which have become bald, causing it to yield a fresh covering of hair. There are hundreds of ladies and gentlemen in New York who have had their hair restored by the use of this invigorator, when all othia preparations had failed. L. M. has in his pos session letters innumerable testifying to the above facts, from persons of the highest respec tibility. It will effectually prevent the hair from turning gray until the latest period of life and in cases where the hair has already changed. its color, the use of the Invigorator will with certainty restore to its original hue, iving it dark, glossy appearance. As a per fume toiler and a Hair Restorative it is particularly rec ommended, having an agreeable fragrance and the great facilities it affords in dressing the hair, which, when moist with the Invigo rator can be dressed in any required hum so as to preserve its place, wheth^r plain or in mule. —hence the great demand for it by the ladies as a standard toilet article which none ought ta be without, as the price places it within the reach of all, being ONLY TWENTY-.FTVE CENTS. per bottle, to be had at all respectable druggnite and perfumers. L. Miller would call the attention of Parente and Guardians to the use of his Invigorator, in cases where the cbildrens' Hair inclined to be weak. The use of it lays the foundation for (1 good head of hair, as it removes any impuiitwa that may have' become connected with thu scalp, the removal of which Is necessary both for the health of the child, and the future up' pearunce of its hair.
