DR, TRAMPS LECTUR have
much pleasure in calling attention to
the lhctures advertised to be delivered
here next week by Professor Trail of
New York. From the character and
position sustained by Dr. Trail, whether
its a physician, a professor, or an author,
we sonfidently bespeak for him a crowd
ed house. Why should we not? The
subjects of his lectures are of the great
est interest, and, when presented bg
'such a master mind, certainly cannot
fail by their novelty to afford an attrac-
Cie intellectual feast. Our only fear is
lest the Hall be not suf f iciently large
'to accommodate all who may wish to
bear him. We think the gentlemen
forming the committee of management
ehmild have procured one of the Church
es in which to hold the evening meet
ings.

Mr. Editor.: For some time past it
las been rumored that Mr. A. B. Grosh
would probably be a candidate for the
Legislature at the ensuing election, but
so far as I know, nothing positive'on this
!matter has yet been announced publicly.
II confess that though favorably inclined
'towards Mr. Grosh, chiefly on account
of tile public spirited manner in whith
'be interested himself in behalf of our
-volunteers and their families, yet until
the delivery °fit is admirable speech at the
collation given to the 'Cameron Guards,'
On their return borne, I did not know
Mr. G. sufficiently to be very specially
interested in his behalf. Now, however,
it is far otherwise. lam most anxiotis
that he should be induced to become a
candidate for the Legislature at the next
election, as I am satisfied that there is
co man within our reach better qualified
for the office. What say you?
Yours,
We most heartily coincide with our
,correspondent in his estimate of Mr.
4lroS,ll's qualifications for Legislative
lionors, ,ao4 from his being a man of tal

regiments which this State has been call

appointment and will give general satis

man and a brave soldier. Col. Welsh
served one year as a- private and non

Mexican war; was wounded at Buena
Vista, and for gallantry and good con
diet 'subsequently promoted to a second
lieutenaoy of the Eleventh Infantry, in
which capacity he served until the ex

went to Harrisburg as captain of the

soon afterwards elected lieutenant col

it is so the parties should be named in

Godey for September is already
on our desk ; hard times do not appear
to effect the " Lady's Book," for the

HOLLOWAY'S PILLS AND OlNTMENT.—Ne
cessity compels us.—Bilious Fever.—Nothing is
more disagreeable to the sick than the naus
eous medicines physicians oblige them to swal
low, but the desire for health is the potent ar
gument which gilds the Pill and disguises the
bitterness of the drought. Holloway's Pills,
however, obviate this difficulty by the rapidity
and certainty of their action. On the stomach,
liver and bowels they act so effectually that
they will immediately core the worst phases of
Indigestion, Headache, Billions Fever, Depres
sion of Spirits, &c. We invite all who are un
acquainted with them, if it were possible to
find any such, to give them a trial, and we will
assure them speedy and permanent relief. For
Sore Breasts, Scrofulous Humors, Cancerk
Piles, and all skin diseases Holloway's Oint
ment is the most effectual remedy in use.

Dr. T. Bovee Dods' Imperial Wine. Bitters
Are prepared by an eminent and skillful
physician who has used theth successfully in
his practice for the last twenty-five years. Th e
proprietor, -before purchasing the exclusive
right to manufacture and sell Dr. J. Bovee
Dod's Celebrated Imperial Wine Bitters, had
them tested by two distinguished medical
practitioners, who pronounced them a valuable
remedy for disease.
Although the medical men of the country,
as a general thing, disapprove of Patent Med
icines, yet we do not believe that a respectable
Physician can be found in the United States,
acquainted with their medical properties, whu
will not highly approve Dr. T. 'Boyce Dod's
Imperial Wine Bitters.
In all newly settled places, where there is
always a large quantity of decaying timber
from which a poisonous miasma is created,
these bitters should be used every morning be
fore breakfast.
Dr. J. Bavee Dods' Imperial Wine Bitters
Are composed of a pure and unadulterated
