The following record of one day'oi accidents, ell
from the same cause, viz : the use of inferior Coal
Oil, is taken from the Philadelphia Ledger of a re-
cent date:
MATIOCW MITCAhr.
"Th 4 alarm of fire, last evening, et 7 o'clock, was
cawed by the burning of the dwelling. corner of
16th and Poplar, resulting from the explosion of a
coal oil ,lamp. Mrs. Hersh, occupying the second
story, of the dwelling had retired to her apartment,
a few moments before the discovery of the fire On
etttering her room, she was found lying On the floor,
w rapped in flames."
"Ahrut 7 o'clock yesterday morning, a coal eh
la np in the hands of Sarah Alexander, who lives
on Cowslip St.. near 16th. She was saver dy burned.
"Margaret Colligan, residing in the rear of 618
South was burned by the explosion of a coal oil
lamp. Her husband. while attempting to rxtin.
gulch the flames, was also severely burned. Two
of the above named victims have tines died of their
injuries."
All such fearful accidents, resulting in death and
the destruction of valuable property, may be avoid
