TAB INAUCURATION.—The Inauguration of John W. Geary as Governor of this State toolc:pface on Tuesday. The concourse of people assembled at Harrisburg to witness the inauguration is represented to have been immense-and the eeramonies most imposing. The Inaugnral Address is an able and patri . ; aatepaper, and judging from the cow meats of the Union dailies, gives very gene ral satisfacticn. Did our space permit we would gladly publish the address in full, but the following in reference to the Rebels sod Congress must suffice for the present:— The violators of the most solemn oblige , timid, the perpetrators•of the most atrocious crimes inkihe annals of time, tho—mumlerets of our heroic seldiets on fields of battle, and in loathsome dungeons and barbarous pris. ens, they must not, shall not, reappear in the eounetl chambers of the nation, to aid i n its legislation, or control its destinies, un• less it shall he on conditions which will pre verve our institutions fripm their baleful pur poses slid idittenee, and secure republican forms of government, in their purity - and -vigor, ill every section of-th-e—c-o-u-n-tryr. • I hat they are indispescd to accept and) -241 t-i ane_ r _ituna nife_at_fro m t heir_rec en t_aud (ren arreennt rejection of the proposed a n;endrnents of the national Constitution—a mendments which are believed, by miley true and patriotic citizen's and statesmen, be too mild" d_acncrc-ns. T. the Congress z eof the 'United States the heart felt sympathies and overwhelming suf . - lines of the people have been generously given. They have fearlessly proclaimed their unequivocal. verdict—"WELL DONE (loon AND FAITTIPPL SERVANTS." Upon the de clihrations and actions of Congress our pros. eat interests and future welllare all depend. ln its firmness and courage the whole exper iment of genuine republicanism is indissolu b'y involved. That this firmness an d courage will be fully exhibited, by its con treing majorities, in the origination and a doption of measures of wisdom and discre tion, even nzore radical and decisive, if neces sary, than those of the past, I entertain no doubt. Such measures will meet with illy cordial approval And I may well add, that while Pennsylvania will confide in a loyal Conoress, she will not hesitate to anstain it with her entire infinenee and power. .TZ-Gencral Ord has just Made a report upon the condition of things in Arkansas.— He surns:up duatters as follows: "Outrages, assaults aid murders, committed on the per sons of freedmen and women , - are being con. stantly reported from nearly all sections of the State, and a decided want of disposition to punish offenders apparently exists with the local civil officers and in. the minds of the people. There have been reported fifty two murders of freed persons by white men, in this State in the past three or four months and no reports hare hcon received that the murderers have. been imprisoned or punish ed. In some parts of the State, particular ly in the southwest and southeast,- freedmen's lives are threatened if they report their wrons to the agent of the Bureau, end in ninny instances the parties making reports are missed and never heard of afterward.— It is believed that the number of murders reported is not half the number committed during the time mentioned." Such state ments coming from an officer of so well known moderation and carefulness as General d, cannot be gainsaid or made light of t will ,have its weight with Congress in coonection with the similar statemcata Vern the Commit tee of Loyalists of Arkancav, which have been placed before that body.
