The President has sent a message t o
Congress, taking upon himself and the Cab
inet altogether the responsibility of thamea
sur6 for which the House of Representatives
lately censured the lite Secretary of War,
General Cameron. It is hoped by him; and
by all the members of' the Cabinet, that this

an evidence of their determination t tno
imaginary divisions shall be gotten up in the
Administration.
Information has been received Imre that
Gen. Banks, in his late retreat, which was
made so successfully, retained all his artil
lery, not losing a single cannon.
Major Gen. Frantz Sigel arrived in the
city this morning, and reported himself im

in the city to-day.
One or two soldiers have got to Manassas,
and thence here on the cars, who succeeded
in escaping from Front Royal, where the
fight was had on Friday last, between the
Ist Maryland Regiment and the Rebels.—
They seem to be genuine refugees, and tell
a straight story. At the battle the rebels
showed no quarter, even bayoneting our
wounded as they lay on the fieldo and per
forming other inhuman deeds, equally bar
barous with those perpetrated on the bodies
of our troops buried at Bull Run. •
Baltimore, May 27.—A1l is quiet here. A
large force of police is stationed along Balti
more street and other localities; to prevent
turbulent gatherings.
