Mow that lbs looter evenings are
coming, and soon the Colder, when
outdoors will be Bncomfortable. some
prorislon wonld ba profitable where
young men ana boys might spend an
arealng er so each week with books
-susd papers. The town needs a read
lag room, a oomfortable plaoe to
which the youth can at times resort
and be surrounded with good influ
ence. What the harrest of habits
and morals In a community will be
depends on what it plants and sows.
If no steps are taken to make a right
betel nnlog it can hardly be presumed
that the result will be profitable.
The people of the town should con
fer on this matter and at least make
an attempt to counteract the bad in
fluences of idle habits and evil re
sorts." It should offset the seductive
attractions of saloons and street cor
ners with a plaos where better aur-
ronadings prevail. Some little sacri
fice may be neoeasary to do this, both
of time and money, but in the end it
will pay. Suppose some ot the good
people make the effort.
. Pull together, brethren. We are
all here for the same purpose. Then
live and let lire. The best way to
build up a town is for each and
every man to pull together and not
strive to rend and tear down. All
the residents of a town are partners,
not opponent. In all likelihood the
mors business don by your rival the
more yon wiU do. Every merchant
who treat his customer honestly
and fairly will get his share and the
more business that can be secured
by united effort, the better is will be
for all.
This is just the right size town to
settle down In and enjoy life. Every
thing for the comfort of lite can be
bought here and tlO will go as far as
2S will in the large oitlea. When
yon want to leave the farm, oom to
our town and build a nioe comfort
able home and be among the best
people In the world.
W owe It to the coenmnnity ta
which we live to do everything we
an in every way possible that will
be to its advautagt. Our neighbor's
prosperity mean a great deal more
to na than someone's who lives else
where. We should bear this In mind
In buying our goods. We oan afford
te pay our home man a firm price
for hia wares rather than send our
money away, knowing as we do that
very dollar our own eltisen makes
will help In etutaining our school,
hurohee and publlo Institution. It
pays richly to patronise home Indus-
try.
