The law requiring a non-resident not being an owner of lands in thla state to take out a license to hunt raises a question as to the rights of members of olubs or park assocla tlons. There are several olubs and associations in the county with their membership corn posed largely of non-residents and if the act is eon strued to bar snob, unless they are licensed there will be, so far as hunting Is oonoerned, no advantage In becoming a member. Social pur poses and fishing, for which no II- cense is required, of course are not affected. It is an important matter for such non-resident members of clubs to have settled and as well for the clubs themselves. A case might be brought as a test so as to have our court pass on the question, and this possibly would save some one annoyance and costs. There Is room for argument on both sides of this matter but we think in view of the summary provisions of the aot, due caution would suggest a judicial de termination before taking too many chances on the assumption that non resident members of clubs and asso ciations are exempt from taking out a'license. THE SANE LAWS. Down in the lower part of this oonnty, it is reported, there Is a general acquiescence to the conclu sion that the special game law for Pike county is repealed by the gen eral aot. Up in this section and in Westfall, it is said, are some poo- ple who seem willing that they Bhould be made test oases. If there are such they may be gratified as it is the intention of the state game commission, and the forestry asso ciation as well, to have the matter finally and judicially settled, and so it should be in fairness to all if there are those who will not ao quiesoe in the opinion that the state law prevails. The open season Bhould be ulike to all and it should be determined which it is by a tost case preferably, but by a prosecu tion if necessary. LOCATING THE RAILROAD. Some newspapers are persisting in the rumor that the Delaware Valley railroad will pass np on the other Bide of the river and are saying that the people on this side are pleased with that prospect. We in cline to the belief that no one out side the company, even assuming that the matter has been settled by it, knows its purpose, and that the location of the road, if built, is alt so fur as the pub'.io is concerned, a tspoeuUtion. Time will develop where the roml will go and the com party will hnihl It wherever It best, snita itm purpose Bnd the Interests to be considered by Its owners. The small difference in cost of construe tion, If any, between the two sides of the river will not uHitnntnl en much lee. Other factors will probn bly determine the location. Many city people are buying farms In the country, finding not only recreation but health in the activity exerted in caring for them during the summer. There could be no plenssnter way for well-to-do city people to pass their vacation than that afforded by the enre and management of small farms on which could be kept a couple of cows, a team of horses, and, of course, poultry, etc Their tablos could be supplied with fresh fruits and vegetables and they could live with more pleasure and comfort than is possible in boarding houses Land Is chenp and the cost of hav lng it farmed by hiring a family which could care for it mid raise the produce need not bo large. There would probably bo a saving in ex penso as compared with boarding in a hotel for tho season to say noth lug of the freedom and comfort en Joyed. Tho past has been a peculiar sea son. Copious rains have fallen, yet crops have not generally been good and apples and pears are very scarce, As if to make amends for its un fruitfulness, a large pear tree on the farm of Esquire Olmsted in Ding man now has on It a number of blossoms.
