A two mills school tax and a tvo mills building tax was lovi' d for the current, year. For b'.irsi'-.g school money the treas urer will receive, as usual, two per cunt, during the current year, as he will also on the disbursement of building money, but it was decided to allow no percentage on the pay ing out of insurance money. The board will meet at. Dingman's on the afternoon of the 22nd inst. to employ teachera and receive bids for the furnishing of wood for tho different schools. Joseph V. Carhnff is still in very feeble health and has been a suffer er for many mouths past. It is the hope of Mr. Carhuff's many friends that he will regain his health and be with us many years yet. It Is said by many that the apple yield this way will be light this year. John Raitt of Brooklyn visited his aged mother and invalid brother a short time ago. He is employed in a watch case factory in the City of Churches. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Van Why lost their only child, Raymond, week bofore last. The bereavement is a sorrowful one fcr these young parents. The dwelling house of John Gould near Schuyler's lu Lehman burned on the afternojn of the 5th inst. The roof took fire and but little furniture was saved before the flames had made such progress that nothing more could be done. Mrs. Gould, only, was at the house when the re was discovered. We are also informed there was no insur ance on either building or contents. It is a heavy blow to Mr. Gould, whoso circumstances are moderate. It is reported that young Brad shaw. who went to Nebraska with John Brodhead two or three years ago, bus been very successful and is now owner of considerable Btock himself.
