On Sttiirday last thn forest south
of the irap along the mountain pre
seated a h'aulilul sight. On tin
trees of tho second ridge t the
mountain the snow had frozen, nnd
with the top of the mountain for a
background tho scene was grand as
I lie sun shone on it. It looked grand
-ti'.S on Sunday morning.
On Saturday another scene was
witnessed in which a whip was the
trump card. Some boys bad been
orbidden to trespess upon certain
grounds but disregarding tho warn
ing a couple of them thought to try it.
They know more now. Sure enough
the o vner whip in hand was at their
heels and while one skipped ncross
the brook the other took leg bail for
it, but he regrets it now for the way
that whip tickled him was a circus
for the spectators.

An epidemio of colds is sweeping

To those interested in. good roads
the report of State Commissioner
II. I. Budd will prove very interest
ing. The report will bo very full
treating every phase of the road
question and any one can get a copy
hy addressing Henry 1. Budd, Com
missioner of Roads, Trenton, N J.
1 ho H, astern states nre moving in
the matter of goinl roads and if I
mistake not Orange Cc, N. Y., has
voted a handsome sum for better
roads. If our people next spring
will vote only for Freeholders pledg
ed to the betterment of our ro?ids
Sussex can have better toads.
Jersey is gn In Wlvforgiug to the
front in the matter of go I ro.ids.
The first bill presented in the Sui
ate was for an increasd in tho ap
propriation for good roids from
150,000 to 1300,000. By this Bill
the State is to pay 2-3 of the c nt,
and the county 13, just reversing
the law as it now stands. Should
this bill become a law, and there is
strong bop that it will, Jersey will
soon have first class roads and if
300,1)00 wont do it just a. Id on a
couple of hundred thousand m ire,
for the people demand better roads
and they are sure to come.
