from the drouth. Wells and springs
that nave not failed for years, con
tain little or no water, and unless
we have rain before winter sots in,
our people will bo put to great in
convenience to obtain water.

retreated to the marshes.

chased of Sheriff Vandermark the
farm occupied by W. W. Bennett,
and thither he intends to move in
the near future.
The most popular street song
heard among our young men seems
to be "Eli ! I'm so dry." This surely
ought not to be the cage judging by
the quantity of cider turned out by
our steam cider mill this fall.
Our lads and lassies are to be num
bered among the brave and those
that take their evei'iiig walks near

The Rev. Mr. Post has been hold
ing revival meetings at Laylou for

is right or not, the argument adduc

that vaooination does not protect a

is more superstition than any thing

The ladies of the Dorcas Society
of Hainesville will give a turkey
dinner in tne basement of thechurcl
on the evening of Nov. 28, The
ladies of that place always have tip
top suppers and this will be no ex
ception to their rule and it will go

and go, and thus assist this society
in this their first effort.

I see there is some talk in the
State press advocating the holding
of the spring and fall elections at
onr election in the fall. It would
certainly curtail the costs of the
eloctions and I can see no reason
why onr lawmakers should not give
it a trial and if it won't work, gi
back to the present ways. The elec
tions of the present are pretty cost
ly affairs and when the result does
not go your way it hurts. Lot us
hear the opinions of the people on
this matter
