Tax collector Hornbock is making
it easy for the tax payers, by ex
tending the time for payment to the
full limit. It is hoped this will en
able every one to meet the obliga
tion on time and save him the dis
agreeable duty of pressing payment.

place this evening. Miss Susie See-
ley, of Milford, will favor the people

Carno Van Wormer, of Port Jervis,

place. An orehester of six pieces
will bo present and Mrs. Speidle
will be organist and Frank Wilkin
pianist. A fine program will be
given. Your correspondent visited
the school Tuesday and was highly
pleased with the good workoccomp
lished by the pupils and teachers
during the past year.
Childrens day was duly observed
last Sunday in the chnrchos. Ep
worth was elaborately decorated
with flowers and ferns and tho chil
dren gave their recitations in a very
pleasing manner. The choir rend
ered tho singing very well, and the
singing of Mrs. Lilly and the Misses
Billman and Hornbeck was especi
ally pleasing. At Hope church a
floral service entitled the "Court of
Peace" was given. The church was
decorotod with taste and a hand
some arch spanned tho pulpit, bear
ing over it the words Peace, Praise,
Thanksgiving and Trust.

This cemetery is kept tho neatest of
any in this valley, while some are a
disgrace to thf) community in which i
they ore located.
Teachers are being engaged for
the coming year all over the county
our Board will meet on Wednesday
of this week for this purioso. A

our text books, but will not be oct
ed upon at this meeting.

with Chester R. Smith, the efficient
teacher of the Brick House school,
on Sunday last. His school closes
on Wednesday of this week and on

A pole on the Hudson river line
near the residence of Andrew Ca
ton was struck by lightning on Fri
day cutting the wire and damaging
the pole. The queer part of it, is,
that, that stroke burned out every
phone along the local line. A line
man repaired the break on Monday.
H. E. Montross proprietor of the
hotel at Dayton had nn offer for Ins
property the past week but declined

P. N. Bourniqne, of the Bluff
Houso, tried a new fire extinguisher
of which he has bought several and
150 feet of hose for the house, a few
evenings since. A pile of dry wood
was flred and when blazing the ap
paratus was used with good success
in extinguishing the fire.
J. B. Westbrook, of Dingmans,
has announced himself a candidate
for the Legislature and is busy in
terviewing his Democratic friends.
