Washington Lnn'z sliped while

Mr. Robert H Evcrilf, of Lnyton,
lias just received a choc k for $7,000
this being bis shair in the estate of
his uncle, Isaac Everitt, who died

is said to be only n part as there is
some real estate yet to be disposed
of, when the heirs will receive some
more.
Chester R. Smith, who for the
past three years has been the effi
cient teacher of the Brick House
school, in Montague, has received
an appointment in the Census Office
at Washington D. C. Mr. Smith
will go to Washington to begin his
duties early in June. A snug salary
goes with the position. As a broth
er teacher I congratulate friend
Smith on his good luck.
Seth Shay and Will Be vans, both
in the employ of the Newark trolley
rood, are spending a week visiting
friends and relatives here. Both are
looking well, and like their positions
very much.
Senator Clark, of Montana, is no
slouch in politics, and now tlmt he
is regularly aptxiinted as a Senator
from that state he should be permit
ted to retain his seat. His trick of
getting the position after being
turned down is pretty shrewd.

The special election for voting
money for our schools and supplies
was held in the Lnyton school house
on Saturday afternoon. The total
amount asked for was 450 dollars, a
sum large enough to interest the
people to con io out, aud vot for or
against. Only eisrht voters wore at
the election, and they voted solidly
for tho appropriation. ,
George Owpii, for the last two
years in the employ of the 3rd Ave.
trolley line in New York, has resign
ed bis position and is now with his
parents.
The fine rain we had on Friday
uight and Saturday has helped veg-
etation very much, but it is feared
that the grass crop has been serious
ly hurt by the drouth.
