world. It will not lie long until we can

ple. "Ciilvermere" is listed to open formally
to n (rood house on July 1st. Carloads of
furniture will go In this week, mid the
finishing touches giveu the grounds.
Hustle appearances will bj retained us far
as practicable, aud tho whole effect Is
going to be very pleasing. The "chef"
will be on hand next week to supervise
the kitchen furnishing which will lie ela
borate and the full staff will have things
tunning smoothly by opening day.

This is a great smprise to Hie public as it
was generally supposed that the "Judge '
had found hotel life congenial, and profi
table. The motive for retiring from active
participation In tho business Is not yet

if he retains the numerous patrons that
the "Judge" hail succeeded in drawing
around himself, and securing from them
a like interest In his new venture, theie
can exist no shadow of doubt as to the

Xot being able to swim, and near the cen
tre of the lake It became to them a serious
matter. They wore, rescued In a condition
however that would make a dog laugh.
. After donning a second hand suit until
their clothes could be wrung, aud ironed
dry they more fully appreciated the funny
side of the situation. After thanking

In flight, aud perhaps watching for .the
same game. Will shot at the eagle in
stead of the groundhog, and on bringing
him down found he measured six feet from
tip to tip of his wings.

The .Sunday School Convention In the
Haiuesvilii! church last Thursday had a
large attendance. As usual prominent
speakers made the usual nble and oloqueut
addresses pertinent to the cpre and neces
sity of Sabbath schools to an audleuco per
haps half of which felt no Interest in the
subject. Tho usual liberal provision by
the Inhabitants was tendered and the
usual regular collections taken. Result a
great awakening of Interest in this great
work, and an alleged Increase of spiritual
development giving a new Impetus to Sab
bath school work and an added zest for
scripture study among both teachers and
pupils. Much good is expected from this
feast temporal and flow spiritual

Tho Ladies' Aid Society of Kpwoith
Chapel of this town will celebrate the 4th
of July by giving a grand dinner to their
many friends in the church on the day we
celebrate.
Superintendent George Sawyer has boon
very busy. He has been holding a teachers'
examination in the school house last week
aud our mituy teachers were In attendance.
Howard aud Wylie Smith, of Middle
town, two young and popular men who
foi .nerly lived In this village, are in town
visiting among friends and having a good

Jiloker, of Matainora.s, gave some of their
young lady friends an outing party on Fri
day at Kuckley's grove. They all assent
bled at the grove at half past nine and
spent the day very pleasantly. A nice din
ner w;l served at twelve o'clock. All tho

young ladies spent the day veiy pica iantly.

things to eat. -Mr and Mm Haines gave

knot was lied in the parlor which was very
prettily trimmed for tho occasion, by Rev.
J G. Raymond of Arlington M. E. church
in the presence of immediate relatives and
a few friends. Miss Mable Walker neice
of the bride acted as bridesmaid, Arthur
Becker as groomsman. Tho bride was be
comingly attired In a traveling suit. A
sumptions wedding dinner was served to
about 3d guests, they were the reclpauts of
many elegant presents They departed for
Scrnnton on the evening train from there
to Port Allegany where a reception will be
held at the home of the groom's parents,

dale Moravian church at Newfoundland
Pa., when Miss Lizzie Marsh of Greentowu
was united In holy wedlock to Charles A
Seig of Newton, N. J. At 11.30 o'clock
while the weddiug march was played by
Mrs. Gvorgo Sommer, the happy couple
entered the church preceded by F D.
Waltz aud Frank Walter, who acted as
Ublters, and Aunie und Hattie Marsh who
uctcitus biidcsmaids and Charles Langu
and Oscar Selg who acted as groomsman
when tiie nuptial knot was tied by Rev.
Wautzcl, pastor of the church. The brh'e
wore a cream colored silk dress, aud the
groom wore the usual suit of black. After

inducing others to come among us either

The Bridge Collapsed.
Saturday last while workmen
were employed taking down the old
Cuslikill bridge it suddenly full, and
two men who were crossing it at
the timo wera somewhat injured.
One was Thomas Bennett and the
name of the other was not learned.
1 lit) abutments had been partially
removed but it was considered safe
for several loaded wagons had passed
over but a short time previously.
It was a wooden arch structure, and
depended for its strength on the
abutments, being stcure. Probubly
in partially removing them they bo
coma weakened and allowed the
arches tin spread, with tho bovo
