A series of meetings are being held in the Kipptown church. As yet no success. The ice-house of F. Q. Hames.was lately entered by some one during tho evening and at bed time the lock was turned, leaving the occupant in side. Next morning the lock was otf the door and the parson gone we hope he got a good " square meal of frozen oysters, which, with stilt was all that the ice-house contained at the time. Atkins, a blacksmith re siding in Middlotown, N. Y..;nil Maud Kelly, a domestic employed near that place were drowned the Wallkill River last Saturday night. They had been out riding and on their return were obliged to cross a bridge spanning the river near Crystal Run. The water had overflowed the banks and covered the road at one end of the bridge for several hundred feet. This they attempted to drive through but some way went over the bank into the swift current. The cries of At kins were heard for nearly half an hour, but as no boats were at hand he could not be rescued, and his body was found next morning lodged in a clump of bushes. The woman was found several hnndred yards down the stream lodged in wire fence. Palmer, of Strouds- burg Pa., was killed by the falling of a chimney in a burning building last Sunday morning at that place, . He was aiding the inmates to escape when it toppled over and buried him. The house was a double one and one part was occupied by Mr. E P. Hollinshead and the other by Mr, Hotopp. - Palmer leaves a wife, who has a child about three weeks old. A number of cellars were flooded in the borough last week by the heavy rain, the gutters and culverts being clogged could not carry off the water. Some damage was done, but on the whole it was inconsiderable.
