There is no foundation for the alleged
violations of law attributed to pur Com-
pany by agents of the Federal Trade
Commission and I want to say emphatic-
ally that Swift & Company is got a party to
any conspiracy to defraud the Govern-
ment. Nor has Swift & Company been
guilty of improperly storifig foods or of
making false entries or reports.

The services of the packers of the
United States are most urgently needed,
and] regret exceedingly that we should at
this time have to spend our efforts in
defending ourselves against unfounded,
unpproved, and unfair assertions such as
ate being daily made public.
