Mahoney had 27 goals and 11 assists in WVC play and joined Pittston Area’s Allie Barber as the all-state selections. Although they played as one 16-team group during league play, WVC coaches split the teams into West and East squads for all-star selec- tions. Dallas, which went 14-1 to win the WVC title, was in the West group along with Lake-Lehman (11- 4), Tunkhannock (7-8) and five other teams. Ruby Mattson, Tiffany Zukosky, Talia Szatkowski and Ashley Strazdus made Dallas one of three teams with four first-team picks on the 17-player squad. Mahoney, Kaylee Hillard, Emily Sutton and Julia Hutsko allowed Lake-Lehman to also place four on the team, along with Wyoming Valley West. Tunkhannock’s Cheyenne Brown was also selected. Dallas placed Courtney Wagner, Katie Snedeker, Maddie Goodwin, Kylee Saba and Gabriella Darbenzio on the sec- ond team while Sydney Emershaw, Amanda Martin, Elizabeth Dillon and Jessica O’Malley received honored men- tion. Two-year football schedule released The Old Shoe Trophy will again be decided in the final weekend of the regular season with Dallas scheduled to play at Lake- Lehman the weekend of Oct. 31-Nov. 1, 2014, according to the latest two-year football schedule finalized by the Wyoming Valley Conference recently. Lake-Lehman, the defending WVC Division AA-A champion, will open at home Aug. 29. In order, the Black Knights then play at Mid Valley, at Holy Redeemer, Old Forge, Meyers, at GAR, at Northwest, Nanticoke, at Hanover Area and Dallas. Dallas is home against Scranton, a new opponent, to open the season Aug. 30. The Mountaineers play another new oppo- nent when they travel to Wallenpaupack the follow- ing weekend.
