Back Mountain won the coin toss and elected to receive. The Junior Mount defense led by Ryan Cuba, Lucas Shultz and Ayden SPORTS BRIEFS FOOTBALL BONFIRE The Annual Dallas Football Bonfire will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Dallas High School parking lot. Vendors will sell food, hot chocolate, coffee and sweets. Rain date is Wednesday, Oct. 30. HOLE IN ONE Joni Godlewski, of Pittston, recorded her second hole- in-one on Saturday, Oct. 12 while playing at Huntsville Golf Club in Lehman. Godlewski aced the No. 3 hole, using a 3 wood. Her shot was witnessed by her husband, Bill, and two of her sons, Jarod and Greg. HINCHEY SERVES AS SPEAKER Dr. Patricia Hinchey, pro- fessor of education at Penn State Worthington Scranton, recently served as inaugu- ral speaker at the annual Teachership Academy spon- sored by El Paso Community College. In the second half, it was all Dallas with the offense scoring two more TDs. First was a Jared Adamski rushing TD with a nifty pass to tight end Darius Wallace for the 2-point conversion. Lucas Shultz capped the scoring for the Junior Mounts with a 3 -ard TD run. The Dallas defense proved just as stout in the second half, keeping the Bobcat running game at bay until late in the fourth quarter when the Bobcats scored a TD. Dallas runners sweep titles Staff Reports Dallas swept all four varsity titles Tuesday at the Wyoming Valley Conference’s Ed Narkiewicz Cross Country Meet at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds in Meshoppen. The Mountaineers outscored Tunkhannock, 33-79, with the help of Dominic DeLuca’s 16-second victory over Lake-Lehman’s Dominic Hockenbury. Jack Tidball of Tunkhannock finished third. He was followed by Bryce Mattson and Kyle Borland of Dallas. Dallas also placed three in the top five in girls. Regan Rome won the title and younger sis- ter, Ally, finished sec- ond to help the Lady Mountaineers top Hazleton Area, 29-63. Lindsey Oremus was fifth. Tunkhannock’s Maggie Toczko was fourth. Samuel Reinert, of Dallas, won the junior varsity boys title while Dallas won the junior high boys team champi- onship. Lake-Lehman won the junior high girls team championship. Newberry Golf League holds end-of-season party The Newberry Country Club Mixed Golf League held an end-of-season party on Sept. 25 at The Appletree Terrace.
