Supervisor Alan Fox explained to sidents that the township’s workers’ compensation insurance policy has been canceled. Fox said, “We’ve been dropped by our insurance company because of the number of claims by emergency services staff.” Fox said he’s not sure the township will be able to find other coverage. He explained that if no one will insure the township, the state will pro- vide the required insurance but at rates Tasting the local harvest Second annual event by North Branch Land Trust touts products from local farms. that are 50 percent higher than present rates. “This represents tens of thousands of dollars,” said Jeffrey Malak, town- ship solicitor. Supervisor Tim Evans said the town- ship will look for less expensive insur- ance. “We're allowed to shop around,” he said. Resident Ed Chesnovitch suggested that a safety program was in order for those covered by township workers’ comp. Fox said, “Your suggestion is right on” and reportred that insurers have already suggested the idea. The supervisors also announced their “wish list” for the gaming funds which will be requested by the Back Mountain Community Partnership. The supervisors are asking for three equipped police vehicles, a multipur- pose recycling vehicle, a zoning code enforcement vehicle and an updated security system for the municipal building. Malak explained that the list goes to the Back Mountain Community Partnership and certain items may be removed. But he said, “We’ll let people know what we apply for.” Resident Amy Goodman said she had filed a police report and had heard nothing back. She said that when she checked with the police department, Sergeant Davis could find no file on the report. Supervisors assured her that Police Chief Jerome Leedock and the attending officer would meet with her. After numerous requests for more information about police activity, Chesnovitch was assured that by next month, police reports will be posted online. Fox said, “I have a form that we would be able to follow.” He promised that, by this time next month, police reports would be visible on the town- ship’s website. Chairman John “Jay” Wilkes, Jr. said he has been adding police information Workers’ compensation insurance policy canceled to the township’s website. Another resident complained about flooding issues in Briarwood and supervisor Evans said he would meet with the resident and the township engineer to check on the problem. Supervisors also announced there are openings on the following boards: Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing and Recreation and Regional Emergency Management. Interested residents may place a letter of interest with thecChairman either in person or by mail to the township secretary by Dec. 16. The next supervisors meeting is set for 9 a.m. on Now. 4.
