Participants paid $5 per lantern and all proceeds were donated to the Hope Center which provides medical, legal, pastoral, dental, vision, audiology and chiropractic services for those who do not have insurance or are unable to attend. Food and beverages were provided. There was a bake sale, the Hillside ice cream truck, a basket raffle and live music to add to the festivities. Hope Center in Trucksville. > BRIEFS ROUNDTABLE MEETS The Wyoming Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Highway, Dallas. STEPH’S FALL 5K IS OCT. 12 The Second Annual Steph’s Fall 5K will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Luzerne County Sports Complex, Forty Fort. Participants can compete in the 5K (3.1 mile) run or in the 3K (1.86 mile) walk. Awards will be given to the top finishers in both the run and the walk with medals going to the top three finish- ers in each age group. A kids Fun Run for chil- dren 10 and under will take place prior to the start of the race. In addition to the run/walk, there will be raffle items. Registration, additional information and a list of featured raffle items may be found online at www.stephs- fallok.com. Online registra- tion is open until 5 p.m. on Oct. 6. After this date, those interested in participating may register in person’ the day of the race. HERITAGE DAY Frances Slocum Heritage Day will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13 at the park, 585 Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming. Children ages 7 to 13 will audition from 2 to 3 p.m. while adults will audition from 3 to 4 p.m. On Sunday, children between the ages of 7 and 13 will audition from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and adults will audition from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. All who audition will be asked to sing a song of choice. No karaoke tracks will be allowed. An accom- panist will be provided. Those interested in speak ing roles will be asked to read from the script. All roles for the exception of Scrooge are open. Production dates are Dec. 5t0 8, 12 to 15 and 19 to 22. Rehearsals will begin Oct. 28.
