The Department of
Communications at
Misericordia University
will hold a special screen-
ing for its documentary,
“VOTE: The Disabled
Democracy,” a follow-
up to the award-winning
documentary, “VOTE,”
at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday,
Oct. 29 in Huntzinger
Ring. This Tiffany ring
is presented to a female
member of the graduat-
ing class who demon-
strated leadership
and service to fel-
low students. The
ring symbolizes
the ancient ideals
of Elmira College,
founded in 1855
as the “Mother
of Women’s
Colleges”: viae,
veritae, vitae (for
the way, the truth and the
life).
Currently residing in
Nortrh Carolina, Bolton
is a first-grade teacher
at the Harvey R. Newlin
Elementary School.

exploration of barriers
to voting for people with
disabilities. In part one,
the professors chron-
icled how accessibil-
ity issues can disenfran-
chise voters by inhibit-
ing their entry to polling
places in northeastern
Pennsylvania.

The Misericordia
University Dead
Alchemist Society will
present an expanded
spectacle for the 22nd
annual “Things that go
Boom in the Night!” at 7
p.m. on Wednesday, Oct.
30 in the Wells Fargo
Amphitheater on cam-
pus. The event is open
free to the public.
Parents are encouraged
to dress their children in
Halloween outfits for the
visit to campus, as MU
students will have candy
bags available for campus
guests.

ing seniors who have excelled in aca-
demics and demonstrated leadership

PSU/WB alumni group plans events
The Penn State Wilkes-Barre
Alumni Constituent Society and
Penn State Wilkes-Barre stu-
dents are offering a bus trip to
University Park to walk in the
annual Homecoming Parade on
Friday, Oct. 11.
The bus will depart from the
Penn State Wilkes-Barre gym park-
ing lot at 1 p.m. and return to
campus around midnight. All ages
are invited to attend to show their
Penn State pride.

The Penn State Wilkes-Barre
Alumni Constituent Society will
host its ananual TV Tailgate
Party for the Penn State fans in
Northeastern Pennsylvania on
Saturday, Nov. 4 at River Grille in
Wilkes-Barre.
The party, scheduled once again
for Penn State’s match-up against
the Minnesota Golden Gophers,
boasts tailgate style food and
drinks, as well as a halftime raffle
and a 50/50 drawing.
The party gets underway half an
hour before the game’s kickoff and
wraps up a half hour after the game
ends. Official game time has not
yet been released but will either
be a noon or 3:30 p..m start. Cost
per person is $28 and all attendees
must be 21 or older.
