Qindergarten program focuses on bus safety and health
The Lake-Lehman School
District announces the first of four
installments of the “Kindergarten
Readiness Program” for children
who will enter kindergarten in the
fall of 2014.
The first presentation will focus
on “Bus Safety and Health.” The
district transportation coordinator
and school nurse will conduct the
presentation.
Dates of the presentations are as
follows: Lake-Noxen Elementary,
Tuesday, Oct. 8; Ross Elementary,
Wednesday, Oct. 9; and Lehman-
Jackson Elementary, Thursday, Oct.
10. All presentations will begin at 9
a.m.
Parents are encouraged to regis-
ter for this program by calling the
school that they anticipate their
child will attend: Ross Elementary
at 570-477-4050, Lake-Noxen
Elementary at 570-639-1129 or
Lehman-Jackson Elementary at 570-
675-2165.
The program is for children enter-
ing kindergarten and their parents.
Children must be 5 years old before
Sept. 1, 2014, and planning to enter
kindergarten for the 2014-2015
school year in the Lake-Lehman
School District.

SCHOOL BRIEFS
STEM SATURDAY AT SEMINARY
Children in elementary and middle-
school grades are invited to attend a
special STEM Saturday at Sem event to
take part in a program titled “Cardboard
Challenge/A Global Day of Play” from 9 to
11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Wyoming
Seminary Lower School, 1560 Wyoming
Ave., Forty Fort.
The event is free and open to the public.
Children who take part in the program
will explore the interactions between sci-
ence, technology, engineering, art and
mathematics by playing games designed
and constructed from reused cardboard.
They are encouraged to begin building
their own cardboard projects in advance
and bring their creations to the event to
share with the group. During the pro-
gram, they also will have the opportunity
to create cardboard games and interactive
structures.
CRAFT FAIR ATWSCTC
The West Side Career and Technology
Center SkillsUSA student organization
will be hold a fall craft fair from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the school,
35 Evans St., Pringle to raise funds for
community service projects and to assist
students in local, state and national com-
petitions.
Various vendors and crafters from jew-
elry and clothing items to wood crafts and
housewares will be featured. There will
also be food prepared by culinary arts stu-
dents and plenty of parking.
SkillsUSA is a student organization
that provides students with professional
development, service opportunities and
an opportunity to compete in their area of
studies at local, state and national levels.

ALZHEIMER'S PROGRAM
Friends of the Mary Kintz Bevevino
Library at Misericordia University
will present the program, “Alzheimer’s
Disease Update,” by James Siberski, M.S.,
C.M.C., CRmT, assistant professor and
coordinator of the Gerontology Education
Center for Professional Development
at Misericordia University, at 7 p.m. on
Thursday, Oct. 17 in the Catherine Evans
McGowan Room of the library. The free
program is open to the public.
