Kevin Baker, professional beekeeper, will present an Introduction to Bees Workshop at The Howland Preserve at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. He will present a discussion about the business of beekeeping, the decline of honeybees and why they are so important to our eco- system. Baker will explain and demon- strate all the equipment neces- sary for keeping honeybees and then lead a walk to the actual api- ary to see the bees at work. With favorable conditions, har- vesting some honey might be pos- sible. As a full-time beekeeper, Baker maintains more than 30 hives in three northeastern Pennsylvania counties.
