Misericordia senior Kari Leigh Breazeale, "Ml, gained confidence
during her mock interview with Joe Butkiewicz, vice president
and executive editor of The Times Leader, and plans to use the
tips he gave her about interviewing to help her pursue a career in
the communications field. Breazeale is a graduate of Dallas High
School and the daughter of Andrew and Kathy Breazeale, of
Dallas.
Students learn from mock interviews
Misericordia University
students took another impor-
tant step toward their future
careers with a series of mock
interviews with regional busi-
ness professionals at the Insa-
laco Center for Career Devel-
opment (ICCD).
Forty-five Misericordia ju-
niors and seniors dressed in
professional attire brought
their newly-refined resumes
and interview skills to the
practice sessions. Representa-
tives from regional employ-
ers, including Julia Edmunds
Associates, Riverside Rehabil-
itation, The Times Leader,
The Metz Group, The Com-
monwealth Medical College
and Mercy Health Partners
took part in the process.
Misericordia senior Kari
Leigh Breazeale, of Dallas,
said she hoped the session
would help her gain a sense of
confidence and comfort when
a job offer is on the line. Her
mock interview with Joe But-
kiewicz, vice president and
executive editor of The Times
Leader, did just that.
“Prior to the mock inter-
view session, I attended a
workshop that the Insalaco
Center offered about inter-
viewing and practiced an-
swering the sample questions
they provided,” said the se-
nior communications major
who hopes to secure a posi-
tion in journalism or broad-
casting. “I thought the mock
interview was very beneficial
- the interviewer gave me
quick tips at the end and it
helped me to realize the gen-
eral feel of an interview. Over-
all, I think with more prac-
tice, my interviews will be ve-
ry successful.”
The mock interviews are
only one of several workshops
held by ICCD each semester
to help students prepare for
their future job placement.
The center also holds work-
shops on resume preparation,
business and dining etiquette,
preparing for an internship,
financial fitness (credit, bud-
get and paycheck basics) and
diversity in the workplace.
geon. Dr. Heintz was a mara-
thon triathlete who, at the time
of his passing, was recovering
from injuries suffered in a bicy-
cle training accident.
Part of the documentary was
recorded at York College and
featured Theresa's sister, El-
izabeth, who graduated from
York College with a bachelor’s
degree in nursing in 2010.
Theresa’s youngest sister, Katri-
na, who was also in the docu-
mentary, is now a sophomore at
York College, also majoring in
nursing.
