Turan, son of Ma- ria L. Turan, of Shavertown, and the late John A. Turan, has enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. PFC Turan of 3rd Battal- ion, Lima Company, Platoon 3241, completed boot camp on September 24, 2010 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Ca. After a short leave, he re- sumed further training at Camp Pendleton, Ca where he graduated from combat training. He then continued on to Fort Lee, Va. for instruction in his Military Occupational specialty of Bulk Fuel. Currently residing in Phoe- nix, Az, Turan ha a sister, Ka- ra McEntee, of Bear Creek; and a brother, Tyler, of Sha- vertown. He is the grandson of the late John S. Frania Sr., who served in the U.S. Army, and the late Amelia B. Campeci- Frania, formerly of Dallas. He is also the grandson of John P Turan Jr., of Gulfport, Ms., and the late Stella Sand- el-Turan, both of whom served in the U.S. Navy.
