though games have been played for a few weeks
now, the official opening day for Back Mountain
aseball was May 15. Following here are results
from games played during the last two weeks.
MAJOR BOYS
Orioles 1
Dodgers 1
Nick Mathers and David Simpson
combined for a no-hitter as the Orioles
defeated the Dodgers, 1H, in four in-
nings.
~ Mathers struck out seven in three
innings while Simpson closed the
game. Adam Niznik and Kyle Archer
led the O's attack, both going 2-for-2
with doubles.
Brooks scored the lone run for the
Dodgers on a passed ball.
Orioles 15
Yankees 2
The Orioles’ bats came alive early
and often as they whipped the Yan-
kees, 15-2.
Adam Niznik slugged three hits with
a homer, Kyle Archer had four hits, in-
cluding two doubles, and David Simp-
son had three hits with a double. Also
leading the assault were Nick Mathers
with a double, Charles Giacometti with
three hits and Zach Charlton with a
single.
The Yankees were led by Angelo
Kwak and Jordan Vitkoski who each
had hits in the loss.
Phillies 20
Giants 8
Jeremy Jayne had three hits, includ-
ing a home run, four RBIs and five runs
scoréd, ‘as the Phillies crushed the Gi-
ants, 20-8.
Adam Borton and Lee Eckert dou-
bled and Andrew Zeyher added a key
single in the win. Daniel Mingey was
the winning pitcher with four strike-
outs in two relief innings of Jared Dief-
fenbach.
The Giants’ Tommy Williams
smashed three hits, including a double,
and Jackson Shaver ripped a double
and a single in the loss. Eric Davies,
Nick Malkemes and Elijah Miller all
roped singles for the Giants.
Astros 6
Phillies O
Nick James and Nick Kocher com-
bined on a four-hit shutout as the As-
tros defeated the Phillies, 6-0.
Kocher, Noah Gorski and Jorden
Finch collected two hits apiece for the
Astros.
Chad Phillips, Lee Eckert, Daniel
Mingey and Jared Dieffenbach hit
safely for the Phillies.
Yankees 5
Dodgers 3
The Yankees picked up their first win
of the season with a 5-3 decision over
the Dodgers.
Collin Pert! earned the win and com-
bined with Dave Schuster to hold the
Dodgers to eight hits while striking out
eight. Schuster led the Yankees with
two hits while Pertl added a double.
Jim Barlow paced the Dodgers with
a double.
Phillies 8
Pirates 7
Lee Eckert had five RBIs, including a
grand slam in the Phillies’ seven-run .
fifth inning as the Phillies slipped past
the Pirates, 8-7.
Daniel Mingey tripled and doubled
for the Phillies in the win. Chad Phillips
was the winning pitcher in relief of
Mingey.
The Pirates’ Tommy Calpin stuck out
seven Phillies. Byron Oldeack ripped a
double and single. Brian Drouse blast-
ed a 2-run homer and made a great
diving catch in centerfield for the Bucs.
Orioles 12
Rangers 2
The Orioles defeated the Rangers,
12-2, in four innings for their first victo-
ry of the season.
Adam Niznik went the distance for
the Orioles, giving up only two hits and
fanning five. Donald Michalisin and Ray
Ostroski had the lone hits for the
Rangers. Michalisin and Christian War-
go were on the mound for the Rangers.
The Orioles’ offehse spread out 14
hits in the victory. David Simpson
smashed a home run and double and
Nick Mathers added a double and tri-
ple in the losing effort. Matt Moleski,
Kyle Archer and Charles Giacometti
each added two hits in the win. Chan-
dler Caruso added a hit for the Os.
Yankees10
Giants 3
Cody Coolbaugh and Dave Schuster
combined to strike out 14 as the Yan-
kees dumped the Giants, 10-3.
Coolbaugh also ‘led the Yankees’
nine-hit attack with three hits while
Schuster and Carl Markowski both
doubled and had two hits each.

led the Giants’ offense with two hits

Astros 3
The A's defeated the Astros, 7-3, as
Ed Hontz had eight strikeouts and
scattered three hits over five innings.
Spencer Bowanko picked up the save
in relief.
The A's bats were led by Josh Hold-
redge who had two doubles, along with
Aaron Yurko's three hits and Spencer
Bowanko's two hits.
Nick James took the loss, striking
out seven A's. Matt Cragle came in to
pitch strong relief. The Astros were led
by Nick James and Matt Cragle who
each had two hits.
Red Sox 17
Yankees 6
The Red Sox banged out 18 hits as
the Red Sox blasted the Yankees, 17-6.
Jason Anderson was a perfect four-
for-four at the plate with three doubles
and Josh Orlandini had three hits, in-
cluding two doubles in the win. Grant
Payne had two hits, including a double;
Jayson Strausser had two hits, includ-
ing a triple; and Kyle Piskorik and Ryan
Martin added two hits. Josh Strausser
got his first major league hit.
The Yankees were led by Colin Pertl
with two hits and David Schuster
smashed a triple in the loss. Carl Mar-

Aaron Yurko and Tanner Gattuso led
the pitching effort with eight strike-
outs and only gave up four hits as the
A's doubled up the Rangers, 12-6.
The A's bats were led by Derek Pe-
ters, Spencer Bowanko, Tanner Gattu-
so and Aaron Yurko who each had two
hits. Josh Holdredge hit the first home
run of his career.
The Rangers bats were led by Malik
Kaleta who had two hits. Chris Hadsall
and Ray Ostroski also had hits.
Pirates 6
Dodgers 4
Jack Tomko, Byron Oldeack, Kyle
James, Tommy Calpin and Justin Mar-
shall all had two hits as the Pirates
slipped by the Dodgers, 6-4.
Thomas Manzoni threw out the ty-
ing run at home before the Pirates
added a little insurance in their last at-
bat.
The Dodgers were let by the pitch-
ing of Ben O'Connell. Their offense was
led by Aiden McLaughlin's three hits.
Bob Oakley and Jake Selingo also add-
ed hits in the loss.
