Dallas Days Dance scheduled for September IL

Tickets for this year’s Dal-
las Days Dance are still avail-
able, but are going fast.
The event will be held one
week prior to the Dallas Har-
vest Festival this year from 6
to 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11,
at the Checkerboard Pavil-
ion, Carverton Road, Trucks-
ville.
This year’s musical enter-
tainment is being billed as
“Abilene & Friends.” “Just
Us” will perform from 6 to 7
p.m., followed by 70s and 80s
Southern Rock icons “Abi-
lene” with a few added sur-
prise guests.
The event is being touted as
the band’s final Back Moun-
tain performance.
A limited number of tickets
are available, at $25 per per-
son, and may be purchased at
Joe Nardone’s Gallery of
Sound locations in Dallas,
Kingston, Mundy St. and
South Main St. (W-B); Och-
man’s Coins and Jewelry,
Dallas (675-5872); Wayne's
World Music, Dallas (674-
1995); and Dallas Borough
Municipal Office (675-
1389). :
Ticket price includes
hamburgers, hotdogs, two
salads, snacks, beer and so-
da. A cash bar will also be
available.
Fall Harvest Festival Powwow is Sept. 26, 27
The Fall Harvest Festival Pow-
wow will be held from 10 a.m. to
dusk on Friday and Saturday,
Sept. 26 and 27, at the Noxen Fire
Co. grounds on Stull Road.
The intertribal event is a gath-
ering for all people sponsored by
Tyconac, Inc., a non-profit Native
organization and the Noxen Fire
Co. Participants should bring
their own lawn chairs. Admission
to the powwow is free.
Gates open at 10 a.m. with
Grand Entry of all dignitaries and
dancers in full regalia at noon In-
dian Time. Host drum is Eagle
Thunder, while Macqua Greene
will serve as emcee. Storyteller is
Grace Dove and Firekeeper is
Walter Howell.
The event will feature Native
American dancing, drumming,
storytelling, food, crafts, bead-
work, jewelry, blankets, fry bread
and much more from 24 invited
vendors.
On Saturday, country singing
sensation Toni Faux will present
a free concert at 7 p.m. A compe-
tition men’s sneak-up challenge
dance will be held both days. All
participants must be in full rega-
lia with drumming and dancing
“until the dancers drop or are
tapped out.”
The $10 entry fee covers both
days with 50 percent payout each
day. Side challenges will be al-
lowed but no money is allowed in
the Dance Circle.
Dogs are welcome but must be
leashed and cleaned up after at all
times. Volunteers may call
