“Black Knights open season at Hanover
1
The Lake-Lehman varsity foot-
ball team will open its 2009 sea-
son on the road against Hanover
Area at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.
Captains of this year’s Black
Knights team are Chris Prater,
Tom Kanios, Adam Holena and
Cody Stark.
The Lehman squad will be led
in the quarterback position by
Adam Weaver and Jared Novitski
while a group of senior players
will be looked to for leadership.
They are Chris Prater, Pat Moss,
Richard Hazletine, Thomas
Smith, Adam Buzunis, Bill
Evans, Jeremy Balliet, Cody
Stark, Adam Holena, Tom Kanios
and Zack Cragle.
The Black Knights are under
the direction of head coach Carl
Kern, who is assisted by Dan
Johnson, T.J. Cook, Jeff Shook
and Nick Daddio.

The Kingston Twp Raiders A
football team opened its 2009
season with a convincing 30-6
victory over cross-town rivals,
the Back Mountain Bobcats.
JT Carey and Dante Zurenda
scored touchdowns and rushed
for over 100 yards each behind
the bruising blocking of Cody
Stemrich and Kyle Kotulski
while Aaron Kliamovich, Carey
and Zurenda added two-point
conversions.
The unrelenting Raider de-
fense was led by the fierce tack-
ling of linebackers Edmund
Mieczynski, Omar Nijmeh and
Corey Patrick. The defensive
line play behind Stephen Der-
hammer, Shawn Spencer, Matt
Ross and Stephen Wempa was
instrumental in shutting down
the Bobcat running game.
B TEAM
Kingston Twp. Raiders 36
Back Mt. Bobcats 0
The Kingston Township Raid-
ers B Team grabbed a 36-0 victo-

ry over the Back Mountain Bob-
cats.
Despite an constant rain, the
Raiders managed to score five
touchdowns led by Connor Mot-
ley with two scores of 40 and 20
yards. Brett Storrs, Nick Math-
ers and Peter Capitano added
three touchdowns of 45, 40 and
20 yards.
The success obtained by the
running backs was a result of
great blocking by Michael Gold-
en, Ricky Morgan and Mitch Kel-
ly. Quarterback Ryan Martin
completed five of seven passes,
three for two-point conversions.
The defensive shutout was led
by middle linbacker Kyle Pisko-
rik and defensive nose tackle Da-
vid Edwards. Defensive ends Ja-
son Culp and Abdul Almecky
kept the running game of the
Bobcats checked while Christian
Roberts and Connor Motley
forced turnovers.
The Bobcats’ offensive effort
was led by Jake Tomko, Stone
Mannello,
Corbin Holcomb,
Chris Allen, Owen Morgan, AJ
Spears, Erik Sweepenheiser, An-
thony Grandinetti, Devin Dick-
son and Eric George.

Back Mtn. Bobcats 6
The Kingston Twp. Raiders C
team won a 12-6 victory over the
Back Mountain Bobcats.
The Raiders took a 6-0 lead
early in the third quarter with a
60-yard drive, capped with a 25-
yard touchdown run from David
Schuster. Leading the way up
front with some excellent block-
ing was Michael Doggett, Caleb
Hill, Nate Maransky and Mi-
chael Luksic.
Defensively, the Raiders were
tough all day behind the strong
defensive play of Derek Answini,
Devin Robbins, Josh Holdredge
and Christian Motley.
The Bobcats’ offense was led
by Joseph Deyo, Dakota Hein-
rich, Ryan Wolken, Bradley
Adams, Ian Evans, Hunter Lan-
don and Zack Bloom while run-
ning backs Nate Hazeltine, Nate
LaBar and Nate O'Donnell made
some great runs.
Nicholas Whitesell scored for
the Bocats on a quarterback
sneak to tie the g: late in th
lat
fourth quarter, sending the game
into overtime.
In overtime, the Bobcats were
stopped on four straight plays,
setting the stage for the Raiders
to cap off the victory with a
Schuster 1-yard touchdown run.
The Bobcats’ defensive effort
was led by Josh Durling, Zach
Hill, Quinten Huey, Gage Mitch-
ell, Cole Robbins, Matt Schnable
and Cole Wyffels.
D TEAM
Dallas Jr. Mounts 30
Kingston Huskies 8
The Dallas Jr. Mounts D team
started its season off with a bang
by defeating, Kingston 30-8.
The offense scored four touch-
downs in the first half to set the
tone. Hunter Love, Xander Shan-
er, Jack Gallis and Jacob Esposi-
to each scored for the Junior
Mounts.
The defense was also stellar.
Led by Jack Farrell and Kurtis
Ryniec, the defense did not give
up a first down until the third
quarter.
Kingston scored a touchdown
in the third quarter before
the defense shut down the Husk-
ies for the rest of the game.

Back Mountain Bobcats 18
The Kingston Twp. Raiders
won a hard-fought game against
the Back Mt Bobcats, 32-18.
Back Mt. scored early, but
once the Raiders settled into the
game, their offense got moving.
The Raiders’ offense was led by
Devon Butwin, Matt Maranski
and Michael Starbuck with some
excellent blocking by Lucas
McGeehan, Joshua Balara and
Cole Vonderheid.
The Bobcats’ offense was led
by Billy Martin, Kyle Sweppen-
heiser, Dale Deyo, Dustin Hein-
rich, Blaise Napierkowski and
Thomas Michak but key tackles
by Raiders Maranski, Tyler
Meyer, Dylan Schuster, Troy Tu-
rinski and Nicholas Lias-Lewis
held them to 18 points.
All three Bobcat touchdowns
were scored by Leonard Kelly.
The Bobcat defense was tough
behind the performances of Ga-
vin Woken, Aaron Broboski, Ke-
vin Burke, Braeden Love, Josh
Schnable and William Labar.

Bus trip is scheduled
The Dallas Gridiron Club will
sponsor a bus trip to the opening
game of the 2009 Dallas football
season in Williamsport on Friday,
Sept 4.
The bus will leave from the
Dallas High School parking lot at
5 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.
Fans 16 years of age and younger
must be accompanied by an
adult.
