Sunday, March 29, 2009 THE DALLAS POST PAGE 5 NA] A © J MA L 1 mY 1 Sweeping starts; code enforced Maintenance code being enforced The Dallas Borough Codes Enforcement Office announces the seasonal enforcement of the Dallas Borough Property Main- tenance Code. Property owners should be alerted that inspections will be scheduled for all property own- ers deemed in violation of the code and the borough will prose- cute all offenders through the enforcement of the regulations. ‘Recent routine property in- spections in neighborhoods throughout the borough re- vealed numerous violations, in- cluding exterior property viola- tions for property owners failing to maintain their premises in a clean, safe and sanitary condi- tion. The borough will require property owners to remove all vehicles not properly registered and inspected, inoperable motor vehicles, failure to cut grass, ap- pliances littering yards, debris and rubbish or other inappropri- ate materials littering yard ar- eas. Residents should note that the annual Dallas Borough Spring Cleanup will be held this year be- ginning Monday, May 4, and continuing through Saturday, May 9. Questions pertaining to en- forcement actions and inspec- tions should be directed to the Dallas Borough Zoning Enforce- ment Officer by calling the Dal- las Borough Municipal Building at 675-1389. Street sweeping program currently in progress As the spring season ap- proaches, the Dallas Borough Road Department will begin the annual Spring Street Sweeping Program. The program is ex- pected to begin immediately, weather permitting, and will continue until all borough roads have been swept clean. The road department re- quests that borough residents follow a few simple instructions to assist in the collection of road cinders and winter materials de- posited throughout the winter driving season. Residents are asked to rake all cinders out to the side of the road in even layers, avoiding large piles. Under no circum- stances should cinders be swept into the storm water catch ba- sins. Property owners should not fill containers with cinders in ex- cess of 20 to 25 pounds as collec- tion is made more difficult and heavy containers may not be picked up. Rocks, limbs and yard waste should not be included for pick-up with the street cinders and green recycling containers should not be placed curbside as the curbside yard waste recy- cling pick-up is not scheduled to begin until May. Questions pertaining to this announcement should be direct- ed to the Dallas Borough Road Department at 674-5362.
