THE DALLAS POST Sunday, December 14, 2008 OBITUARIES DAVIS - Jane C., of Maple Lane, Tunkhannock, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at Geisinger Wyom- ing Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born November 12, 1921 in Kingston, she was a 1937 graduate of Dallas Township High School and had been employed by Commonwealth Tele- phone Co. in Dallas, Citizens National Bank in Tunkhannock and retired from the Tunkhannock Area School District after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, Tunkhannock Women’s Club and was a former den mother for the Tunkhan- nock Cub Scouts. She was also active in the Tunk- hannock Girl Scouts, receiving the Curved Bar Award. A resident at the Village of Greenbriar for 2'% years prior to her death, she was a graduate of West Pittston High School and attended Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing to becom- ing a registered nurse. She practiced private-duty nursing until her marriage in 1940. She continued her involvement with Nesbitt for over half a century, serving on the Board of the Hospital Auxiliary in the role of president, on the Hospital Board of Trustees as Chairman of Com- munity Relations and volunteered for years in the Hospitality Shop. She was an active member of St. Paul's Luth- eran Church of Dallas where she sang in the choir for over 60 years, was a member of the Dorcas So- ciety and served on the Church Council. Her civic interests included participation in the Dallas Women’s Club, the Women’s Glee Club, Irem Women’s Golf, the board of Planned Parenthood of Wyoming Valley and the Wyoming Valley Unit- - ed Way. Over the years, she also taught Sunday School and served as both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was named Mrs. Wyoming Valley in 1956. Surviving are a son, Dr. Jack Eck, of Vail, Colo.; daughters, Marilyn Eck, of Seattle, Wash.; Do- rothy Strauch, of Discovery Bay, Calif.; and Bever- ly Williams, of Castle Rock, Colo.; two grandchil- dren; one great-grandson; sister, Mary Reese, of Dallas; brothers, Tom Templin, of Shavertown; Ralph Templin, of Golden, Colo.; numerous niec- es and nephews.
