Lehman seventh graders win tournies The Lake-Lehman seventh grade tournament team recently participated in three basketball tournaments, capturing two championships and one second- place finish. The team went 8-1 during that stretch. In the Lake-Lehman Junior High Winter Jam, the Knights beat Northwest, 46-16, to ad- vance to the championship game where they defeated Wyoming Area, 38-20. In the Wyoming Area Catholic Eighth Grade Tournament, the seventh graders handled Wyom- ing Area Catholic, 42-37, in the opening round, garnered a forfeit from St Jude’s in the second round and defeated St Mary’s of Pittston, 37-26, in the tourney fi- nal. Most recently, the Knights participated in the Freeland MMI Tournament. The opening round saw the Black Knights cruise to a 46-23 win over Berwick, followed by a 62-16 win over Freeland MML. In the third round, they de- feated Valley, 46-32, to move onto the championship where they lost a hard-fought game to Dan- ville, 43-39. Individual top performances included Jared James with 23 points against Valley. Chris Ed- kins followed with 12 against Ber- wick. Brandon Kelley scored 12 against MMI, followed by Dean Gregory with 10, Cody Spriggs added eight, Connor Balloun and Josh Davenport chipped in with seven apiece and Aaron Le Valley had four. Tom Chipego tallied nine against St Marys, Bill Hill- man scored eight against North- west while Tommy Boyle added 5. Dean Gregory and Jared James were voted to the Freeland All- Tournament Team. James was the top scorer in the tourney while Gregory was the leading re- bounder. DYB SIXTH GRADE BOYS WIN CYC TOURNAMENT =r} The Dallas Youth Basket: Sm ae ball sixth grade boys tourna- ment team recently com- pleted its season by finishing third at the Catholic Youth Center tournament. The team won its second straight DYB tournament, ending with a record of 4-0.
