portent’ a hd sr re a i SP epi bins iu APA 4 The Dallas Post COMMUNITY Friday, September 26, 2003 Nature walk, raffle, bake sale at Hillside Farms The North Branch Land Trust (NBLT) invites members and the public to a nature walk, raffle drawing and bake sale on Saturday, September 27 at Hillside Farms in Trucksville. This is a peak time of year for a number of migratory birds that frequent the area and that participants are en- couraged to bring binoculars for bird watching. The bake sale will be held outside of the Dairy Store in the greenhouse parking area, starting at 10 a.m. The raffle drawing will oc- cur at 12 noon. Tickets ¢an be purchased until noon. The Nature Walk will begin at the Hillside Diary Green- house at 1 p.m. and will wind along a creek that ambles through the farm property. The Percheron draft horse wagon rides will run 12 noon until 4 p.m. and will cover points of interest and the natu- ral scenic beauty of the Hill- side Farms property. Seating is limited. Tickets are available at the dairy story. Scout distributes Vial of Life Eric Goeringer, in conjunction with Dallas Fire and Ambulance, has been working on his Eagle Scout project over the past year. Eric has distributed the Vial of Life at several area locations. Who can be a Girl Scout? Any girl age 5 through 17 or kindergarten through twelfth grade is welcome to become a Girl Scout. Girls of all races, cultures and religious groups are welcome. Every girl is ex- pected to make the Girl Scout Promise and try to live by the Girl Scout Law. CROP Hunger Walk seeks participants feed the hungry here an abroad. Last year the Wyoming Valley CROP Hunger Walk raised $15,575. Of that amount 75 per- cent was sent through Church World service and its part agencies to feed people in United States and around the world. The remaining 25 per- cent of funds returned to the valley and were distributed to thirteen local food banks or pantries. The 2003 goal is to have 400 walkers surpass the $15,575 raised last year.
